Lateral in position name only. MSU doesn't compare to UF in any way shape or form. I will admit that this football season was a very unusual exception to that rule.

Which is what he was saying. Its hilarious how far out of context this was taken. I saw the quote and about 10 seconds later every newspaper in Mississippi was tweeting it.

30 something to UAB 113 yards rushing 435 yards passing
29 to LSU (lol) 89 yards rushing 341 yards passing
31 to Trill 161 yards rushing 365 yards passing
23 to Auburn 232 yards rushing 209 yards passing
31 to UK 103 yards rushing 401 yards passing
25 to Bama 124 yards rushing 211 yards passing
31 to Ole Miss 205 yards rushing 327 yards passing
Not much juice there.
In the games you mentioned you allowed an average of 147 rushing and 327 passing yards. Ranked 22 in rush D and 120+ in pass D.....

Well, it's a DC job in the SEC and doesn't appear to be more money or more job security.
So... looks pretty darn lateral to me.
Now, when "tradition" results in a higher salary and more POSITIVE notoriety then I'll agree that it's a step up. Til then, it's lateral at best.
