Mullen knows Dak is coming back next year and doesn't want him buried in the depth chart.

Does that mean that Coach Mullen was expecting Dak to leave after this season when Virgil committed to MSU?

You are right. We all know Mississippi produces more football players than Texas could ever think about. No need for any SEC team to recruit Texas.

Mullen is a genius.

Evidently Mullen and co. did not tell Chason personally, just told his coach.

So he is spineless too?

I mean, I agree it's shitty, but your Subject line is misleading at best.

It means there was a huge possibility of it if he graded 1st or 2nd round. He will come back better than ever next season.

He's not going to have a problem recruiting Texas. This is drama about nothing, happens all the time.

Another reason why I follow recruiting very loosely until they sign the national letter of intent.

texas is the most overrated state when it comes to highly ranked talent. The best team in Texas #5 TCU has no were near the best players in state to commit to them. You don't need prima donna players to win

No doubt. I wouldn't expect any junior to stay in school if he reasonably anticipated being picked up in the first two rounds of the draft. I just didn't know that Coach Mullen gave Virgil a committable offer because of the risk that Dak might leave early for the draft. I'm sure that wasn't the only reason for the offer. I just didn't know that it was a factor.

your point has absolutely no correlation with your supplemental "information."

What a stupid post.

2015 class: 16/17 commits from Texas
2014 class: 17/24 from Texas
2013 class: 17/23 from Texas
2012 class: 19/24 from Texas

TCU has no team without Texas recruits.

A more apt analysis would be Mississippi State. Let's take all of the Texas players off their roster:

-No Fred Ross
-No Jeremy Chappelle
-No Will Coleman

Now let's look at players with offers from them from Texas:

-JaMychal Hasty: Baylor
-Xavian Marks: 0% of crystal balls MSU
-Tristian Houston: Texas
-Devine Ozigbo: Iowa State
-Carlos Stickland: Texas Tech
-Jordan Davis: Texas A&M
-Madison Akamnonu: Texas Tech
-Connor Williams: Texas
-Charles Ominehu: Texas
-James Lockhart: Texas A&M
-Kingsley KeKe: Texas A&M
-Javier Edwards: 0% of crystal balls MSU
-Du'Vonta Lumpkin: Texas
-Motekai Maile: Oklahoma State
-Nathan Fox: Northwestern
-Malik Jefferson:
-Justice Williams: Illinois (You lost a Texas recruit...to Illinois)
-Kris Boyd: 0% of crystal balls MSU
-PJ Mbansor: Oklahoma
-Jaylon Lane: Oklahoma State
-Roney Elam: Texas A&M
-Josh Butler: Michigan State
-Torin Marks: 0% of crystal balls MSU
-Chris Warren: 0% of crystal balls MSU
-Blake Lynch: Baylor

Word gets around and Mullen, as well as his assistants, will find the responses, "oh, he isn't available right now" and "no, we don't have time to talk to you right now" quite frequent in Texas.

Not only that, but some coaches will be petty enough to deliberately influence MSU targets in Texas to attend SEC West schools not named Mississippi State.

Ok...we had 2 or 3 players tear their ACL's in their senior year last year and Mullen did not pull the scholarship. An ACL isn't a career ender or anything.

If something recently came up that made Mullen change his mind and say hey...I don't think this guy is someone that can help the team, what do you want him to do? Just give him a pity scholarship?

This is so true, especially at the QB position. We all know that Texas doesn't produce any QB's that make it in the NFL or in Heisman's.

He could start by telling the kid to his face instead of relaying the message through the coach.
