Poured it on? Haha do you watch bama games at all? AJ has 14 of his 16 td's in the FIRST half. 2 passing td's in the second half the entire season. I wouldn't exactly call that pouring it on. Oh, and quit your garbage about Russell being 15:1.. AJ is 16:0.. Just as good. Can't wait to play the amazing defense that gave up 31 points at home to Tennessee. Msu is a good team. But you can't argue that our defense hadn't been challenged, when your offense hasn't either.

Spot on, IMO...

We(speaking for myself and most level-headed MSU fans) think we match up better against Alabama/LSU stylistically on defense than we did against Tennessee, based on what we saw last year in our LSU/Bama games and our Arkansas game(team most similar to UT in passing approach). Tennessee's offense worried me much more than Alabama/LSU, based on how we got torched in Little Rock last year.

We think we are the same defense this year that we were last year, with more experience and better depth...and a 2nd lockdown CB and a lockdown nickel(Wells) that allows us to go full man outside and stack the box/bring the heat. Can we go toe to toe with Alabama for all 4 quarters? I don't know. We only had enough gas for 2.5 quarters last year, so it will be a tall order... I know that we have constantly rotated 12 on the DL with focus on trying to build enough depth to give us a chance. This is one reason why it often appears that our DL is weaker this year than in season's past, because it has rarely been at "full strength."

Going to come down to whether or not we can move the ball...which we couldn't in past years. If we can't, none of the previous stuff matters. I do think our chances in this regard are improved(not saying they are good), because we have an accurate QB that can complete passes. Going to be heavily reliant on tight ends, IMO...

Play to the echo of the whistle, Dogs, to the echo of the whistle. Inflict some bumps and bruises.

It's not like we don't rotate.

DL : Jesse, Dial, Stinson, Square, Pagan, Ivory

LB : Mosley, Nico, Trey, Hubbard, Dickson, Devall on occasion

CB : Milliner and Belue are the starters, but on occasion in Nickel/Dime Milliner plays Star and when/if he does that Fulton plays outside and does a damn good job of locking down the WRs.

S : Lester, HaHa, Sunseri, and Perry are all playing at Safety. Sometimes Sunseri plays Star and Perry plays Money, sometimes Sunseri plays Money if Milliner plays Star, and sometimes Sunseri plays SS while Lester plays FS.

Sometimes HaHa plays FS with Lester at SS.

Sometimes Perry plays FS with Lester at SS.

I know you are responding to him, but thought I would give ours for comparison...

DL - Autry, Boyd, Virges, and Eulls starters, they get about equal snaps with PJ Jones, Preston Smith, Quay Evans, Shane McCardell, Devin Jones, Cherrington for our 3-4 package, then Ryan Brown and Nick James in mop up duty. Honestly not even sure who the best 4 are, given how many variables there have been... But Quay Evans will likely play a huge role against Bama

CB - Slay and Banks starters, Love and Calhoun have gotten ~ 30-40% of season snaps, Jiles gets mop up time

LB - McKinney, Skinner, and Lawrence starters, bunch of snaps for Bohanna and Wells, Holmes and Hughes mostly get mop up duty

S - Broomfield and Whitley starting, backed up by Arrington and Jay Hughes, who get about 25% of our snaps... then Kendrick Market gets mop up duty

Corner is the only position where we experience a drastic dropoff from first to second string. After the second string, we get very weak and/or extremely young in a BIG hurry everywhere else...

MSU presents Bama a lot of problems

Fact 1: Mississippi State's offense has not been tested against a decent defense.

Fact 2: Mississippi State's defense gave up 31 points to the only team with a top 50 offense they've faced.

Fact 3: Alabama demolished a top 20 defense.

Fact 4: Alabama held the top 2 offenses they've faced to less points combined than the best offense MSU faced.

All notable facts, but you omitted a few.

Fact: MSU was outgained on the ground and in the air by Troy.

That's right. Fricking Troy. 572 yards. 30 freaking first downs.

And MSU fans are actually saying that Bama hasn't been tested? MSU fans talking about how good their defense they have, how they can stack the box and still cover. Yeah...you did such an awesome job against fricking Troy.

Keep proping yourself up...but the Troy game just keeps sitting there as a monster turd in your punchbowl.

Sorry to break it to you, but our defense faces better receivers every day at practice.

We played 62 players against Troy. We have 81 on scholarship right now with 16 redshirts, so we played all but 3 scholarship players in that game. Was 23-7 when we put in the 3rd string...

Admittedly, it came fairly close to burning us in that game...

Russell and Perkins played the entire game.

That's what UT stated..

149 passing yards and 4 combined catches by their top 2. Something the Bama secondary could not do.

Why are you comparing us to UT? You are going to watch a freshman WR and the nation's best QB embarrass your "top secondary." Deal with it.

Wow.. Considering we have only thrown 1 this season, I can see where we are due to make that mistake!

You're facing the best secondary on your schedule, and arguably the best in the nation.

Your past stats doesn't mean shite to this team. We're not Troy, Kentucky or UT. You'll be lucky if you can keep it close.

Participation chart on page 25 of this pdf: LINK

To be more exact:
81 scholarship players... 16 redshirting... Malcolm Johnson out with injury, PJ Jones out for suspension, Tobias Smith out as "precaution"... Dak Prescott, Brandon Hill, Derrick Milton didn't play... Josh Robinson and Nick Griffin played but didn't get carries... 3 walkons got time in the game.

Still all but 3 available scholarship players got time in the game, as did 3 walkons...

But look at the play-by-play chart which shows you had starters making most of plays the entire game. Sure you might have rotated backups in but it's nowhere near the huge amount playing at once that you guys make it out to be. I imagine a lot of those guys played special teams or rotated in and out sporadically while it was still majority of the starters out there.

For one, you are taking what I stated out of context.

It was not a QB comparison. I'm simpley stating that Bama did not pull their starters early and kept playing. I did not imply that you picked things up and did more.

The comparison was, in this respect, the timing of which MSU pulled their starters and played backups to build depth. It was made to show that the stats are misleading. Not as a "Bama sucks" or ?"Bama Bad" thing.

Oh, and quit your garbage about Russell being 15:1

LOL.. It's not garbage. If it was not true, then you got a case. But it's true.

quote:

AJ is 16:0.. Just as good.

Never stated that he was bad! Chip on the shoulder much?

quote:

But you can't argue that our defense hadn't been challenged, when your offense hasn't either.

I can argue that. Hell, I did argue that. Now if you want to argue the other, be my guest. One does not negate the other.
