FWIW, slectivity isn't exactly a great measure of academic quality. It's not insignificant, but it's also not particularly meaningful.

You can look at any standard you want, and the ACC would be better.

If you consider Vandy and Duke equals, then you have:

UNC
UVA
GT
Miami
Boston College
Wake Forest

all being better schools than the next two SEC schools, UGA/UF

Has a student body that is probably even nerdier than GT, but in a different way. Pretty nice campus though considering it's in the middle of ATL.

Woh, woh woh, pump the breaks there...

As a GT alum, I still gotta say if you get stuck in the middle of a nerdy group of GT students, its awful

I downplay the nerdiness at GT, but thats honestly because there is a fun segment of GT's student body that you can surround yourself with.

Emory has the private school snobbery going for it though. I live in Highlands so I mix with them them all the time.

ETA: They definitely have more of a hipster awkwardness going for them, maybe that's what you're referring to.

The 10% rule really fricked most colleges in Texas

on this Longhorns and Aggies can agree.

Not sure I buy that list if only because, when you search specifically in Texas, UT (18) and A&M (40) are too far apart. Practically speaking I would think they are closer to same. I didn't look at criteria though so maybe I'm missing something.

Yea. My girlfriend used to live right by Emory. I wouldn't say anyone came off as snobby at all. Maybe academic snobs, but not in any other way like you might find at other schools.

Emory has a lot of Jewish kids from the NE, but they aren't really that nerdy as a group. I guess that Jewish NE vibe could be perceived as nerdy by southern frat types

PRK - I call shenanigans on LSU being so low. I have no delusions about our academic integrity, but there is no way we're so far below Tenn, Auburn, and Arkansas.

I call BS on this comment. LSU has more thugs than both Tenn and Aurbun put together!

but the average ACT scores of enrolled freshmen are the same

Arkansas's standards will likely increase in the coming years as we are approaching our goal of 25,000 students faster than expected. The university is struggling to keep building on pace with enrollment growth and pretty soon will have to start turning more students away.

What's with all the ACT talk? Do most SEC schools prefer the ACT over SAT?

The schools I applied (including UF) to cared more about the SAT than the ACT.

you can all day long, but plenty of idiots get into schools based off of who their parents are. the fact remains the individual still got into there with a sub 20 act.

Yeah I bet they relax on the idea of an enrollment cap at 25k and go for 28k, although maybe at a slower rate than the past few years. They are building more right now than at any time in recent history, and they are about to announce even more construction.

I'd rather they grow slower. They will come close to 25k in Fayetteville next fall.

I'd rather we force the University to 28k and leave it alone. At least at that point we are forced to accommodate the students and potential alumni towards the program academically and athletically .

I'm just enjoying how proactive Fayetteville has become in the past 10 years. It's not even close to the same town, campus or options 10 years ago.

P.s. I took at look at those 2 multi-family units off dickson street. It will take Dickson Street to another level when this happens. Hell, it's already damn fun now...
