He has been at Ole Miss longer than Van Horn has been at Arkansas. His seat was getting hot and he needed to get off his rear and do something.

He was very lucky his team got into a regional because he was looking at getting fired. Before he won it all, his resume was inferior to DVH.

Now he has a losing year and he can do absolutely nothing for the next few years and they don't want to fire a coach that won them a title.

As a fan of a program that has been through the peaks and valleys with a greater concentration on the valleys, I can't go with that and look what happened to State. They could be in for a coaching change soon and that means they could hire a bad coach which means more losing seasons. Then the process starts all over again.

I'll take being good at a high level that could potentially win it each year then win it all and could bottom out and not be competitive at a high level for the next decade or two.

Really surprised to see Tennessee that high

I actually am, too. They were sub .500 in 2018 and 2019 in SEC play, and still are up there.

No offense but your program has never won a championship in the 2 sports referenced. you can’t really say what it’s like

I didn't reference any specific type of sport or sports but a generalization of the typical Arkansas fan who has experienced a lot more valleys than peaks in all types of sports.

Nothing is going to happen to DVH. He has had very good success here and because of that he will retire on his own. If he doesn't ever win the big one which many reasonable Arkansas fans don't expect after that disaster in the 2018 CWS then that is fine.

I remember how bad these Arkansas teams were in the 90s before DVH got here and turned it around. That is one reason he has stayed as long as he has and given zero pressure because before he got here, the program suffered from instability and Arkansas really needed some stability. DVH brings that and more.

Why though? We been trying to tell everyone that Tony V is one of the top coaches in the league right now. Just look at what he’s doing this year. Making the post season and winning 16 SEC games in a rebuilding year. Yes this was a rebuilding year for UT considering they had to replace 8 starters, and had 10 players drafted. Not a bad year this year for a rebuilding year.

Absolutely, anyone can get lucky. it's harder to be consistently good.
