I live in Gwinnett County and based on car tags and clothing choices it really isn't even close (UGA outnumbers falcons). I know this isn't a perfect indicator but it is a start. Even if the falcons are the most popular in Atlanta, I grew up in South/Central Georgia and UGA fans outnumber Falcons fans at least 10-1.
Sorry I didn't quote was I was talking about well enough.
I was talking about the falcons in comparison to the braves. Everyone before me kept saying the braves are the most popular so I was saying based on what I see in atlanta its the falcons.
I agree on the dawgs as well for college. I'm sure a ton of Georgia fans are falcons fans and vice versa

Gotcha. I think it is just the fact that football is more popular in the south. The Braves are crazy popular in this state but due to the number of games and length of the season there just aren't as many die hard fans. I know a ton of people that call themselves braves fans that still think Chipper Jones and John Smoltz play.

It was Thrashers but now I gotta go with Braves.

Have you ever lived or stayed East of Nashville? Ive never Met a Memphis fan in my life this way and even then I still dont know any UofM Basketball Fans Out of everyone I know in Nashville or have I Seen there gear in numbers.
-UT is definitely 1
-Titans have a big mid State following, with it thinning Out East and West But with a ok following
-UofM has a big following in West TN, Zero following in East TN and I couldnt accurately say about mid state
- Grizz Pretty decent following across the State with it getting better every year
- Braves have a Huge following in East TN, with from what
ive Seen a Pretty decent fan base across the entire state
- Cardinals same as the Braves but Flip Flop East and west
-Vandy has a small part of the Nashville Metro area
1. Vols
2. Titans
3. Wash
4. Wash
5. Wash
6. Vandy

Then switch the Titans and Tigers, but you can't put the Grizz ahead just yet, and I'm saying this as a huge Grizz fan. They are gaining momentum with the success of the last 3 years, and will probably pass the Tigers soon though.
The reason I put Memphis bball up there is due to it being the money making sport for the school. They're putting over 17k fans in the forum for around 20 games every year. It may just be West TN, and then tapers out, but it's still a large fan base. I'd say they also pull from the tri-state area more so than the rest of TN.
And I can agree completely with this.

Speaking from Experience:
Georgia: UGA Football, Atlanta Falcons, & Atlanta Braves are all a tie, IMO. Depending on the year each is having, the coverage and passion really sway from year to year. In the 90's, it was all about the Braves. The Dawgs were very mediocre, and the Falcons were terrible. In the 2000's, it was a flip between UGA football and the Atlanta Falcons, depending on which season. When Michael Vick burst on the scene, the Falcons were the hottest ticket in town. Once they had a few down years and UGA was making SECCG appearances, they took charge.
Right now? Man, it's tough. Both the Falcons and UGA literally fell short within the same ten yards, in the same stadium, from playing in their respective championship games and have extremely high aspirations for the coming year. The Braves have a 15+ game lead in their division. It's very tough to decipher who the most popular team is, because all have inquiring minds in the Peach State.
In Alabama, it's currently Alabama football all day. However, there surely was a streak in the mid 2000's when Alabama was on probation, that Auburn certainly attracted more interest. However, with the state of the Alabama program being in Bear Bryant territory, it's hard to imagine this being a close competition in present-day form.
As far as Mississippi goes, I'd venture to say that Mississippi State is probably the bigger deal within the State. If we were to speak nationally, it's Ole Miss all day. The school has an incredible out-of-state draw, and a national following that laps the field on the Bulldogs. Considering Mississippi is still a primarily agricultural state, most towns in Mississippi are indeed rural, and Mississippi State has an overwhelming amount of in-state students compared to Ole Miss, there is a reason why they seem to be more popular.
Quite simply, look at linkedin for where most graduates end up after graduation. MSU grads migrate to Jackson and other in-state cities by the thousands, while many Ole Miss grads return back to their home state, or venture outside the state walls. The top cities for Ole Miss are divided up heavily between Memphis, Atlanta, Dallas and Jackson.

The Braves have a larger number of fans due to no competition in MLB but the UGA fan base is much more passionate. If you asked every resident of the state of Georgia to identify with one sports team I would be shocked if Georgia football wasn't the most popular.
The Braves are more popular.
Most of population of Georgia is centered around Atlanta, and a very large chunk of the Atlanta metro are transients. Many of them went to southern schools other than UGA and still grew up Braves fans.
Here in Atlanta it's easily the Braves, then the Falcons, then UGA is back there in third. Guess it could be different in the backwater parts of the state.

We are arguing different points. If by sheer number of fans then yes absolutely the braves have more. If you polled the entire state of Georgia and let them choose one team then UGA, Bama, Auburn, Tech, etc. would poach off a large majority of Braves fans.

Guess we all can't live in world famous midtown fricking Atlanta.

No way Florida is the #1 sports team in Florida . I would say the Dolphins followed by heat. The Yankees in Florida might be more popular than the univ of Florida.
Bama-UA
tenn- the Vols . Titans and Grizz
arky- tflagship, Cardinals
Texas - Will always be the Dallas Cowboys
Missouri- The Cards, KC- will be very loyal to its Chiefs

Out of teams in Florida? It is not even close, UF is easily the most popular sports team in the state. Everyone else is very regional, they do polling on this all the time, no one comes close to UF's statewide popularity.
