Believe me or not, but UGA has seen the height Richt can bring them to.

Well, if he continues to have 1 and two loss seasons more often than not, eventually it will be our year to win it all. I always like to point out in these threads that it took JoePa/Papa Bowden/Tom Osbourne all over 20 years to win their first title each, and all are living legends. Once Richt wins one (and hopefully it is soon), all of this goes away.

im sorry how can ole nutty be overrated....his team has beaten the national champs each of the past 2 years not to mention he took an ole miss team that won 0 sec games and took them to the cottom bowl and won against a texas tech team that was number 1 in the country for a couple weeks i think nutt is a great coach

I expected Ole Miss to win 8 games this year regardless of the coach. There is some nice talent there. And, I was expecting Snead to tear it up this year.

I would say Nick Saban and it isn't even close. It is like he has been elevated to God status as a coach. He is definitely an elite college coach, but he does not deserve the mass amount of hype he receives.

PissJacket, be thankful you actually beat an SEC team. You guys are from that piece of crap ACC. You got Ole Miss early, before they got things together, and Georgia late when they were beat up.
By the way, No we didn't make it to a bowl game last year, but I'd be willing to be we are there this coming season. Will You??

Phat Phil...Whoopsie I forgot Phil got run off..now one of the dearly departed.

He has as many NC's as Saban and an undefeated season in the SEC. I'd say he is rated right over the whole for his career including a ridiculously good winning record against every other SEC school (except FL.) He only got mediocre over the last 3-4 years of his career. If you call winning the SEC East two years ago mediocre, that is. Kiffin doesn't deserve a rating until he at least coaches a single practice. Same goes for Cheezdick. Right now, I would have to say Richt. Way hyped every year but never seems to close the deal. I think the dude is a legit coach, just not quite as good as his rep.

As many SEC Championships as Fulmer, in half as many seasons. As good a winning percentage as Fulmer (before he fell off). Winning record against Fulmer.

Crystal football in the case, by chance?

ETA: I like Richt. Strong character guy, etc. Just needs to figure out a way to get over the hump. Until then Fulmer, Spurrier, Meyer, Myles, Saban, and perhaps Tubby have a leg up on him in modern era SEC coaches.

Phil got 1 in 16 years. Richt's still got 8 more years to try...and he's one of the reasons fatass is retired.

I didn't say Richt wouldn't get there. I said he was overrated thus far in his career. He may very well get there. Just not yet. I respect GA as an SEC heavy, but there's that nagging issue of finishing a season off still hanging there. We had it once with Fulmer, but it is fleeting. Enjoy it if he gets you there.

The SEC has bar none the greatest collection of coaches in the nation. That's part of what makes the SEC so great.

But, the two most overrated coaches in this conference are Kiffin and Chizik even though they haven't coached a single game. What exactly have either of these guys done in the past to deserve such high-profile jobs in the most elite conference in the nation.

Meyer, Saban, and Spurrier's resumes speak for themselves. Though Steve has lost a bit of his magic.

Petrino and Les Miles did great things for the Louisville and Oklahoma St. programs.

Richt has been a consistent winner (except against Florida of course).

Nutt has shown he can win big games against elite teams with lesser talent.

Brooks and Johnson have done admirable jobs all things considered.

On the other hand, Chizik and Kiffin have gone a combined 10-34 over the last two seasons.

I would say Richt, but this is a good point. People say Mack Brown is overated, and just a good recuriter but look at his resume. An NC and some nice BCS wins.

As much as I hate Ole Miss, you cannot call Nutt overated. He is a hell of a coach and gets more out of avearge talent than many coaches get out of great talent. I think his weakness is recruting, but we shall see.

I don't think Spurrier is overrated, he is just done.

No sense talking about Meyer and Saban.

As an LSU fan I feel as though I should put Miles with Saban and Meyer, but he is not there, hopefully yet.

I think most people will not call Kiffin overated because most of us think he does not even have enough to warrant a rating. Overrated=hype,he has nothing but jackass written all over him.

Petrino - I don't know. He is the exact opposite of the Nutter to me. He needs plenty of talent to run his deal. He seems NFL like - as in I will run a kid off and get a better one (just an opinion) while Nutt seems high school (do the best with what I got)

You have to also ask, what would any of these coaches do in a different conference? Look at what all of these guys are up against. The SEC is no nesting ground and sure as hell no place to reward avearage seasons.
