I grew up a Bama fan in the 1980s. Two of the most heart-breaking losses to me were the 1986 Bama vs. LSU game in Birmingham and the 1988 Bama vs. LSU game in Tuscaloosa. Bama blew both of those games.
As far as losses to Auburn, the Bama vs. AU game in 1986 (Lawyer Tillman reverse) and the 1997 Bama vs. AU game in Auburn (Ed Scissum screen pass fumble) are the most heartbreaking. 2010 loss to AU in Tuscaloosa was embarrassing after leading 24-0.
Bama’s 2003, 51-43 loss to Tennessee in four overtimes was pretty sickening also.

Why was 2017 Troy loss heartbreaking? I was happy as a Troy alumnus, but LSU played like crap that night. Not really heartbreaking - just a team that got beat with no real drama.

Yes sir.
And The 90 Penn St. game sucked too. I’m not really sayin we were better in 90, but we started 0-3 and then broke Tennessee’s heart with the field goal just to lose the next week.
But things were building for Gene and those defenses.

1989 Iron Bowl
Bama was undefeated, ranked #2 in the nation, and had already secured no worse than a tie for the SEC title. First legit shot at a title post-Bryant and the game was being played in Auburn for the first time ever.
Everything on the line. It was supposed to be epic then they roll in and proceed to get the shait kicked out of them.

Barners tears were delicious after that FSU game. My team just won their FIFTH National Championship since your shitty program won it in 2010. I'm hardly upset bro

Mizzou has three of the roughest!
1. 5th down game with Colorado in '90. CU went on to win part of Natty that season.
2. The Nebraska Flea Kicker game in '97 when they were #1 and Mizzou hadn't beat them in 20 plus years.
3. Tyus Edney of UCLA knocking us out of round of 32 on dash to hoop with 4.8 seconds left. UCLA won the tourney that year.
Those are Heartbreakers folks!

Your dumbass “favorite” lineman basically handed LSU the game just before half. That 15 yards gave LSU opportunity to scoreTD rather than kick FG.

We paid your school to come to death valley and beat us. It was extremely heartbreaking, and should have never happened

No one has said 1/9/12? Have we finally healed?

Irony is in the next round Northern Iowa blew a double digit lead with what, less than a minute to go, against A&M. And did it without attempting a single FT, IIRC.

Troy also had LSU beaten in 2004 and in 2008, but blew those two. I was surprised LSU scheduled Troy again for 2017.
