Because he may have just executed the singular most dominant pitching performance ever in the CWS, and it was in an elimination game and saved his entire teams bullpen minus who DVH pitched Saturday.

It's the college World Series, the teams are vetted at this point. It could have gone the other way without Gages amazing performance, once in a lifetime stuff.

In Gages Defense he did last a full 2 innings when he played us earlier this year and his era of 18 was better vs us than Roots was on Saturday.
I'm sure we won't smash him again with his waist high 96 fastballs, idk how we'll catch up to him
