..Because SC actually has decent history from the 70's and 80's and should not be as bad as they've been over the past two decades.

No, the answer here is Mississippi State. As a State alum, this is a clear cut choice. The Diamond Dawgs fielded some great teams under Polk in the 80s and 90s. Their 1985 is amongst the greatest of all-time to never reach the title game (1998 LSU being my No. 1). How this program never won or even reached a title under Polk is unfathomable.

The only reason Mississippi State made it that far was because nobody else in the SEC invested in college baseball until the mid 90s. Once other programs made the commitment, State Baseball hasn't been the same.

State also hasn't won a conference title since 1989

Outside of the California & Texas teams and Wichita State, no one else did either...it's not like they were going up against anyone less. No one truly invested in baseball.

That 1985 team, who finished with a sparkling 50-15 record, would feature countless players that moved on to the major leagues, including Will Clark, Rafael Palmeiro, Jeff Brantley, and Bobby Thigpen. Some of the numbers I've seen from that year are just absurd, including Will Clark's .420 average, his 25 home runs coupled with Palmeiro's 20, Jeff Brantley's 18 wins in 23 starts, as well as Gene Morgan's 14 wins.

You could seriously argue LSU. We had some great teams that have underperformed. The Indiana loss still hurts watching. That 2006 team underperformed greatly against UCLA. Those early 90's teams underperformed and the Hack-a-Shaq just pisses me off.

Alabama should be on the list for Basketball, not Arkansas. They have a pretty good history in the SEC but havent done shite in the tournament.
