The peak of Cinderalla-ism was the HS draft eligibility NBA and one-and-done eras. The lower level teams had talent deltas but they weren't as steep as today.

Agree and mid-majors would sometimes be old: having starting lineups that had been playing together almost in-tact for three seasons.

2007 also had three ones vs twos and one one vs three.

Dude, the peak of Cinderellism was roughly the decade before this year. Especially the 2021-2023 tournaments.

Every year from 2021-2023, there was a #15 seed in the Sweet 16. That happened only once before 2021. There was never a #16 over #1 before 2018, but then it happened twice in five tournaments. The 2023 Elite Eight had no #1 seeds and just one #2 seed. Then the Final Four that year didn’t even have a top 3 seed.

I don’t know why people act like March Madness is done forever because of one tournament.

Fitting that the most chalk tournament of all time is gonna have an all #1 seed Final Four.

Will only be the 2nd time ever for that.

I wouldn't say it's over but transfer portal/NIL and the major conferences expanding is likely going to lead to the tournament getting chalkier.
