Yeah, that's on par with chanting Nolan's dead daughters name.
I didn't say it was on the same level.

how about they stay away from making fun of Katrina or a kid whose mom is dying of a dudes dead daughter. Shouldn't be that hard
Exactly.
If it was one isolated incident I might be more understanding, but there's a pattern here. Plus, those guys look like they can't even count to potato.

I think we're in agreement. I don't condone those chants and I've recognized them as black eyes on their reputation.

What pieces of shite this group attracts. Wow.

And what a pattern it is, in nearly 40 years of existence they have made a handful of very bad judgement calls.
That's not so bad for a group of intoxicated people with the average age of 19.

Completely disagree.
People are right to take them to task for this. I don't care how inebriated you are, there are lines you should know better than to cross.

I 100 percent support the pig's head incident

I agree. Being drunk is no excuse, crossing certain lines can't be justified by youth or inebriation.
Those handful of really terrible things they've done can't be justified. They were awful and disgusting acts made by cowards hiding behind the safety blanket of the group dynamic. Those acts should remain black eyes on their group forever.
But my point shouldn't be lost. This group has been around for 40 years and they've only made a few really bad decisions.
This negative press has done them good, they know they have a close eye on them and they can grow and learn from the mistakes of the past.

Here is another pic.
Where are the female Antlers?
Where are the non white Antlers?
Do they always wear black shirts?
Looks like the Zou Crew and cheerleaders is where the chicks are.
Maybe the Antlers and Yell leaders need to hook up?

They have been taken to task by people within the university for the previous incidents. The issue has been addressed. Anyone who continues to bring the previous incidents up is just doing it for board entertainment purposes or to enjoy participating in some fake outrage.

What point are you trying to make?
Does it surprise you that an abrasive group of assholes is mostly male? I mean, if there were more Catfans in the world I bet this group would have some more vajayjay in it.

That is the most non SEC picture I've seen today.
Holy shite.
Holy shite.

Mizzou has lots of ugly people it seems.

Have seen non-white Antlers in the past but its usually no more than 1 or 2 max per year I'd say, though its also a pretty small group. If you want to get specific, I've seen multiple black Antlers over the years and can recall at least a couple Asian Antlers (don't know specifics beyond that)...never seen a Latino Antler that I can recall.
Never seen a female Antler, ever. Don't know if that's an official policy or if just because its always been all-guys that no women have bothered to try to consort with them.
The black Antler shirts predate any of the other color coding in the student section, going back to the 1980s its always been black shirts with a gold antler "A" on them.
The Zou Crew didn't exist until the 2000s and that is more an indictment of the University of Missouri that it took them that long to create a large, all-inclusive student cheering group. The Antlers are much more like a little frat, there's no question, but through the 1980s and 90s it was also the only thing going as far as basketball student cheering groups. Had the university done more to promote bigger, broader cheering groups or spirit stuff in the 80s and 90s the Antlers probably wouldn't even be relevant or even exist. But here they are.

The Antlers were a non-factor in all the Hog games. Not sure what the story is about some Yankee pussies acting like idiots.

Yeah, I am getting that impression from the pics. Which is why I brought up Duke fans as a comparison. Are they just drunk and obnoxious or do they actually know and understand the game? Would they know the difference between an on ball screen and off ball screen?

By the way, don't know if its been mentioned in this thread but since getting to campus, former A&M President and new Mizzou Chancellor Bowen Loftin has for better or worse been very supportive of the Antlers, has tweeted out compliments to them for showing up at women's basketball games while most of the Mizzou student section (specifically Zou Crew) was empty. There's a bit of a battle now between Loftin who loves their loyalty and attendance vs our AD Alden who hates their controversial cheering tendencies.
That really is the rub with the Antlers. No matter what they say or do, the one thing about them is they SHOW UP rain, snow or shine. The rest of the Mizzou student body and the Zou Crew specifically are not up to par with them, not even close. Sure its a smaller group, but they always bring their whole membership to every hoops event on both the men's AND women's side. Loftin has a point on that. If they can be toned down to acceptable levels of verbal content, they can still be an asset. But that's a big if.

Well, Loftin is coming from basketball-apathetic TAMU, so in his defense it wouldn't take much to impress him in terms of crowd support

In terms of how much the Antlers know about Xs and Os I couldn't speak for them but they certainly follow hoops and basketball stats more closely than most college students. They made the trip with Mizzou out to Knoxville this past weekend (unfortunately for them). Like I say above, their biggest strength and value to the men's and women's basketball programs is their undying loyalty. The Mizzou coaches and players ALWAYS love them as a result, even when the alumni and athletic department have sometimes clashed with them, the players and coaches always say they like having them around.
The main complaint about the Antlers in recent years has been trending to less creative and more just obnoxious. At their best, they are not only sober but wickedly creative and funny. That's why they gained so many defenders in the 1980s and 1990s that they gained a foothold as an institution. They research every single player and find every little detail they can to razz folks. They will prank call rival players' dorms and even rival coaches homes (both Roy Williams and Bill Self made the mistake of picking up the 3 am phone calls their homes received). Pizzas get delivered to opposing players hotels the night before a game in CoMo and sometimes the players are dumb enough to eat them, that happened to Arkansas much to Nolan's lament.
That sort of stuff is at least more in the realm of harmless fun, college type stuff, and as long as its prank stuff like that that is not mean spirited or offensive I'm fine with it. When they cross the line and say things that are blatantly offensive to groups of people or are disrespectful to players family or loved ones etc, that's the lame stuff that should not ever be allowed. Usually they can contain that stuff but when you have a group of college kids whose very reason for existence is to harass an opposing team, it always creates a danger that the less creative/less socially aware type of 19 and 20 year olds are gonna cross the wrong line now and then.
