I wasn't born in a Yankee state and I've never lived a day in a state that supported the Yankee cause. I'm not sure what your point is?
Are you saying that Florida has transplants from the North? Of course we do. We are blessed with great weather (71 degrees here now) and folks take advantage of it. As long as they stay in S. FL I'm good with it.

It's just the predictable banter that comes from a handful. Since joining the rant I now know more about the civil war, yankees, meth, soda or pop or cola or whatever you want to call a carbonated beverage than ever before. Sooner or later, someone will make mention of Josey Wales to prove how southern we are, then someone from Alabama or somewhere will pipe in about how the real Josey Wales or the person who wrote it was from Alabama or something.
Best thing to do is ignore it instead of doing a 10 page dissertation on the burning of Lawrence.

I'm not ashamed, however my family moved from Alabama and Arkansas to St. Louis in the 1940's to find work.
My grandmother was as southern as it gets, her grandfather fought in the confederate army, and ALOT of that history, especially the cooking, has been passed along, so while I was born a "Yankee", I have an understanding of the southern culture and traditions.
The world isn't as small as some of you think.

Let's put this into a context you can understand. If you add sugar to tea......you no longer have just tea, it's sweet tea.
