I couldn't tell you how many Texas fans wandered into our tent just to talk about how fun Oxford was. I thought they would be pompous as shite but I was wrong

It's not so much that it's overrated, is that it's not a tailgate--which is what makes it different and garners it the press it receives.
It's more of a gathering. Or a social.
And I can completely understand why Ole Miss fans enjoy congregating with their own in that way.
Not that any of you give a lick about my opinion .... but I think the disappointment factor may come into play, because people have lofty expectations going in.
They hear about The Grove and anticipate the ultimate tailgate--loud music, grilling, huge amounts of beer and booze on ice ... for me, tea sandwiches, casseroles, trying to be "seen," chandeliers, and tablecloths--just "because"--don't fire me up for a slobber-knocking football game.
But that's my opinion.
And if there's anyone who's a fan of folks doing what they love and flipping the finger at the haters, it's me.
Keep on keepin' on, Rebs.

I get along pretty well with the graduates, which I'm sure are the ones who were making that trip. Like most fanbases it's the side walkers that are insufferable and theirs rank very high up there

That was their most exciting road game in years.

Glad it was a good experience.
I think most people find that fans whose teams don't have to face each other more than once in a blue moon tend to get along great.
It's the annual match-ups that bring out the inner jackass in many.

I dislike the graduates more than the tshirt fans.

I can count on one hand the number of ole miss fans I met in Oxford who weren't laughable try-hard clowns.
Look at your sig pic. You think that bullshite is cool? Not to mention nearly every one of you who came down were wearing tight jeans, pointed cowboy boots, and a huge arse belt buckle. "Oh damn, he must be from Texas by golly", said all the unsuspecting rebel fans.
Try hards? Lolocaust

I'd bet he does, or it probably wouldn't be his sig pic.
Others may agree with him.
You disagree.
People differ, ya know?
Why the judgments?
Lift your glass, do your own thing, and keep on livin.
Eta: for the record ... I'm as familiar with Oxford and Ole Miss as anyone around here. The students at both schools look all but identical.

Like I said, it's overrated but we still get our dicks sucked dry every year for it. It's pretty hilarious.
Y'all probably have great tailgating, but I don't have a clue because I've never heard a word about it from the media (except for bud light lime guy, lol).
So I'm gonna keep riding on those coattails and enjoying the frick out of myself, and I don't care if opposing fans don't have a good time because I hate all of them (in the SEC) and never offer them any food or alcohol anyway.

And we dress how classy Mississippians dress. It's a long tradition going all the way back to the plantation.

Yall seem to have a lot of those.

Exactly as it should be.
The first part, anyway.
Lucky for you, I know enough Ole Miss folks to know that the second part of your comment is BS.

I've always wondered that... Honest question, why do you all talk about the plantation culture and use allusions to the Civil War as a source of pride? I would try to distance myself from that as much as possible if I were you...

like I said, just based on my experience there, y'all are spiteful try-yards playing dress up and you seem to hate people from Texas when most of the country thinks we're badass.

My comment is not BS for me personally. That is exactly how I feel. I'm an a-hole

IRL? You would have to be a moron to talk like that IRL.

Because you sound like a douche...

I'm honestly not trying to be mean, just letting you know.
Typed words on tRant hurt the most, man. Go easy on me.

Don't be a douche, it's obnoxious.
It sounds like you wear Ed Hardy and I hurt your feels. The point is this: I would never make fun of a child or some underexposed, impoverished person for their style choice. But once you become a grown arse man, capable of buying your own stuff, I am of the opinion that there is a certain line that must be drawn. Ed Hardy and Affliction apparel do not fall on the correct side of that line.
To each his own, but you won't be getting a single ounce of my respect if you're a grown arse man and dress like a clown. It doesn't take money or "alpha status, bro" to not dress like a clown. It takes common decency and good sense.
