Georgia is a loss

Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas are likely losses.

Ill give you Florida, Kansas state and Auburn, south Carolina as toss ups.

With all due respect, these kinds of determinations before the season are kind of silly. Teams defy expectations all the time, for better or worse. Preseason, I dare say that you would have considered the Mizzou vs. Florida game last year to be a "likely loss" for the Tigers, and yet Missouri won. Same for the Kentucky and LSU games in 2020. Do you really have any insight into how good most of the teams in the conference are ACTUALLY going to be, particularly on the days those games are played, given all the variables involved (injuries, etc.)? No, you don't, and neither does just about anybody else. Sure, it's obvious that Georgia will probably beat Mizzou, but there is a lot of wiggle room in this conference from 3-13. Presumed good teams implode on a yearly basis, (UF '13, '17, '21, UT '17, '20, LSU '20, Mizzou '15, etc.) Other teams make a leap when they aren't expected to. New coaches routinely struggle in their first couple years in the league, etc.

OK, rant over, to answer the question: I like Drinkwitz and I'm confident that Missouri is going to be considerably better on both sides of the ball in 2022. They finally have good depth throughout, something that was missing in Drinkwitz's first two seasons in Columbia due to NCAA scholarship reductions, Covid, a thin roster to begin with, and the typical weeding out process that occurs when a program is being rebuilt. Another thing that gives me hope is the fact that Mizzou has a great kicker and Coach Drink has good track record thus far at winning close games (8-4 all time, 5-3 at Mizzou). I also expect that, on a whole, the conference will be even better than usual. So, how much ground will Mizzou be able to gain on the teams ahead of them and how will that translate into wins? Who knows, but it's going to be fun finding out.

Nice play caller. Occasionally outsmarts himself by calling too many gadgets and not enough running plays.

He also still looks like Harry Potter.

He needs to capitalize on the recruitment of Luther Burden and at the very least field an explosive offense. If he can do that and even go 6-6 he'll have something to build on for more high end recruiting.

Being honest about it, anything consistently over .500 wouldn't and shouldn't get him fired. The problem with Barry Odom was he was .500 and boring as frick. If Drink is .500 and exciting, it'll take him a lot longer to wear out his welcome.

He's shown he can recruit but NIL might put a dent in that. What I'm looking to see is if he can grow as a play caller. He's had some really great play calls and some head scratchers. As long as that improves and another solid recruiting class this year I'm good with 6 wins this year.

Good X's and O's guy, think he's a little in over his head in the SEC at the moment. Thankful Ole Miss hired Lane cause Drink would be our coach if we didn't.

really? If Lane kept his word on his MOU to Arkansas, you would have Drink?

Nahhh man, too many incredibly better play callers out there.

Hell, I would have hire art briles first...

Napier at Florida would have been a better choice...

Heck, Lebby would have been a decent choice...

Briles Jr even? Really?

revised history brocephius!

In speaking with a BOT member at Arkansas, he was contacted but never offered. They were actually in the process of looking at Luke Fickell (who wasn't interested, but spoke with them through an agent) and had Kiffin wrapped up prior to hiring Sam Pittman. Kiffin's agent called after a MOU was reached saying, "Ole Miss offered more" when Hy (AD) said, well.. we aren't, we had a deal and if this goes any further, it is over. (Brass balls and all) and he went back to visit pittman (Whom several past players pushed heavily) and signed him up.

I am thankful things went the way that they did, in hindsight. I was bummed over Kiff honestly until Pittman got here. The passion, the love for his kids, he fits in and has tons of experience in the OL and coaching in the SEC. Anywho... carry on brah!

Why are Arkansas fans so quick to chime in negatively about Missouri and our coach Drink? It’s almost comical at this point. For not being our rival, we sure must be in their heads a lot.

You hog fans should be proud of your team and coach and not obsess so much about your northern neighbor. Life is too short.

If so, if you ever see him, tell him thank you for us. He did us a huge favor by not continuing the chad morris crap here.

Heck, I’ll send him some flowers….

Dude, Rambo... and the other goober, who writes like he is autistic, pile on us often.

It is Tit for Tat for sure. Plus, to be completely honest... Drink is so dang dorky it is funny!

I could see this Mizzou team going anywhere from 4-8 to 8-4. It’s hard to say with Cook starting at QB and a defense that can only improve from where it was last year.

I think the kstate game makes the difference between 7-5 and 6-6

Louisiana Tech- W

Abilene Christian-W

Georgia- L

Vanderbilt-W
at South Carolina-L

I chime in on Eli cause I've known Eli a long time. Not only is he in over his head, he KNOWS it. He will struggle to keep Mizzou at .500 the next 5 years. 4-8 this year.

I know for a fact Ole Miss would have hired Drink if Lane turned us down. Fortunately we were the best open job at the time.

If you’re referring to me, I was simply trying to have a discussion with you about the expectations of your football team.

Look, it’s unavoidable. I’ve come to the conclusion that like an arranged shotgun marriage, for better or worse, they are making it so Missouri and Arkansas will be rivals.

I simply was curious what you thought the expectations were going in. I was t even trying to be a tool. I just simply wondered where your fan base thought wins 6,7,8 would come from.

Fair enough. But that’s just what we do in the off-season. It’s talking season for a reason and EVERY sports fan I’ve ever known looks at the schedule and picks games they think they will win and lose.

There are bowl projections right now before a snap of football is played. Most people have locked in the college football playoffs. Every sports outlet out there has put out a prediction for their fan base.

But you’re right….it’s why we play the games anyway. But come on, you act like it’s unheard of to predict a schedule based on who you should beat abs who you should not.

Maybe so. Pittman had us #8 in the country in Year 2, finished the year ranked, won our bowl game and went 9-4. Preseason ranked in year 3.

Missouri finished year 2 6-7, not ranked, and won't be ranked this year and barely trying to go .500 in year 3.

You won't find any Hog fans who care if Drink turned us down or not. He sucks.
