The meetings formally begin Monday with a session of faculty representatives from the league's 14 schools, including fellow newcomer Texas A&M.

But the sessions get into high gear Tuesday when athletics directors, football coaches and men's and women's basketball coaches convene. Presidents and chancellors of the member schools will meet Thursday and Friday.

This year's payout will be announced in Destin, though Mizzou and Texas A&M won't be on the payroll because they weren't part of the league this last school year.

Among other agenda items that figure to be fully vetted and revealed: the basketball scheduling format, complicated because of the number of schools, and annual cross-divisional rival games in football.

Mizzou, set to play in the SEC East, almost certainly will be paired with Arkansas of the SEC West. MU initially had thought and hoped Texas A&M would occupy that role to help Missouri maintain a presence in Texas for recruiting purposes, and A&M is on MU's schedule this season.

The bolded part below is pretty interesting to me.

quote:

Football and the lucrative TV dollars that come with it is a big reason why the SEC has more than tripled the money it’s distributed among its schools since Adams’ first attended the meetings in 1998, growing from $62.1 million then to more than $220 million last year.

This will be the first SEC spring meetings for new members Missouri and Texas A&M, which are leaving the Big 12. The meetings begin in earnest on Tuesday and run through Friday.

The SEC presidents held a “very lengthy” conference call May 17 leading up to the meetings, Adams said.

“This is one, sort of like coaches’ salaries and contracts, that kind of gets the presidents’ blood moving a bit,” Adams said. “I think there will be some strongly held opinions among the presidents about how those questions ought to be answered. How much direction the commissioner is going to be given, I don’t know yet.”

Presidents and chancellors who oversee the BCS are expected to meet in Washington on June 26

Adams told the Georgia athletic board this past week that he thinks the SEC presidents are nearing a unified position on playoffs.

“There’s still a lot of details to be worked out, but I think at least our position on many of those details should become pretty clear, assuming the presidents can agree on anything,” Adams said after the meeting. “I think there’s a general consensus about where we’re heading.”

of course that prick is the one speaking to the media, god knows what that old bastard will do when he isn't spending our schools money and goes back to being irrelevant.

all i know is Georgia definitely would want a playoff, anything that'll help our odds because we obviously haven't benefited from the old system

I wish for the sake of playing more teams in the East, they do away with cross division rivals for teams that don't want them.

You should read before you assume. The article is informative and does nothing to lambast or talk down about the Aggies or Mizzou.

Anuii is the plural? I obviously got nothing out of my English degree.

Does anybody tailgate this thing? I'm in Destin this week and I hate to drink alone.

Ok, I have no clue what you tried to do there. Was that supposed to be the plural of "anus" or the word ennui (boredom) spelled wrong?
