I have no sources, only speculation from rumors and hearing bits of information, but there was friction between her and the curators. The curators hired an oversight committee for the atheltic department which pretty much means they did not believe she was doing a great job but didn't want to fire her because she is a woman and, well, women are protected in high positions.
