Sure I do... Best in the WORLD!
Not my fault if other countries can't be competitive in the most important sports of MLB, NFL, NHL, NBA.
Even though we refer to three of those as "National" no one seriously believes a team exists anywhere else in the world that can beat the champions of one of those four.

WashU would be the third wealthiest school behind A&M if they were in the SEC.

Mizzou mounts improbable comeback against Texas A&M
The No. 16 Aggies reverted to old form this afternoon, giving up 14 second-half points to Missouri before tying the game at 31 with a 35-yard field goal with under a minute to play in regulation. But Missouri would go on to win 38-31 in overtime, giving A&M their third blown lead of the season that resulted in a loss. That’s not even mentioning the missed field goal by the Tigers that could have won the game in regulation.
A&M nearly lost a fourth game this season when they gave up 20 second-half points to Texas Tech in a 45-40 win in Lubbock.
This is a frustrating trend for Texas A&M, who has the talent on both sides of the ball to better than 5-3. It’s not going to get any easier, either. Games against Oklahoma, Kansas State and Texas remain for A&M, and the former two are on the road. This could be an eight-win team at best with the talent to be a 10-win team.
What the Aggies need is leadership, some veteran guys — especially on defense — to have enough pride to not let things slip away late in games (not to mention some better second-half adjustments from head coach Mike Sherman; what’s going to happen when they get in the SEC West against Nick Saban and Les Miles?). They need grit, and if A&M doesn’t have it after eight games this season, it’s hard to believe they’ll have it to finish the year strong.

Nick Bolton was a menace, that second return for TD was CLOSE.

No, it means we claim something as WORLD when it is just NATIONAL
If only 1 or 2 countries engage in a sport it is not global as it does not have global acceptance. As a Scot I have participated in things like the caber toss but how many countries have caber tossing outside the US and UK? I feel someone in Japan is the champion of Bo - taoshi but how many Bo - taoshi teams exist outside Japan (and you 300 people to play).
The world plays Olympic sports
The world plays soccer
Nobody cares outside the US (and Canada) about American football

Great if you are talking individual medals but that is not exactly a "team" from Missouri (the school) or Missouri (the state) are they?

The long gone Christian Brothers College of St. Louis won Silver in football at the 1904 Summer Olympics that was held in St. Louis,

Is that what became Chaminade?
Lots of those old school got demoted to lower divisions but many became prep schools and survived.

Olympics = world
World Cup = world
NFL is only in the US, Canada even has their own league
Saw this late, you do realize Canada plays in the MLB, NHL, and NBA, yes ?

True
North America is still not the world
It is like Christians thinking they are the majority when most of the globe lives in Asia and India. Not exactly 2 spots filled with Christians.

Ok, but I'll still remain confident that the "national" champion in each of those sports is also the best in the world.
Realize that all those sports recruit the best players in the world to play for their teams.
If it makes you feel better however I will petition the OP to change the title of the thread to:
"Missouri is the state of national champions"
Still quite an accomplishment!
