There is a quarterback in the West who will set the all-time SEC passing record this season, but he's not at Arkansas.
Arkansas has a new OC and DC. State is more stable than Arkansas. Only State's offense is changing, and we have an offense full of experienced players who have played together for 3 years.
Junior High coaching staff?
State's new OC had the #26 offense in the country last season. The season before he was #23.
Arkansas new OC was #55.
USC's new OC was Arkansas' TE coach.
UK's new OC was #47 in 2021 with UK.
Auburn's new OC had the #46 offense last season.
UGA's OC was #67 in 2021.
A&M's new OC had the #65 offense in FCS.
None of the SEC's new OC's have outperformed State's new OC.
Also, last season State won 9 games with the #62 offense. As stated above, State hired an OC with the #26 and #23 offenses.
All facts.

state returns the 13th most experience on a defense thatt ranked seventh in the sec and Kentucky and Auburn ran through it like it wasn’t there.
Take your sunbelt OC , your first time HC, your first time DC and GTFO
yea Will Rogers the stiff who can’t break ten seconds in the forty is better than KJ Jefferson.
We’ve heard it all from you clowns, Leach sucked and now you have the coaches you’ve always dreamed about

You aren't just bringing in a new OC. You're transitioning to an entirely different offense with players recruited for the Air Raid. I think that is the reason for the lack of optimism in the media.
That’s not a totally unfair critique, but it’s also not like State is transitioning to the Wing T. Barbay still likes to sling it around and most snaps will be out of the shotgun. Just more runs and tight ends incorporated into it all. In my opinion having Rogers and a very experienced OL also helps with the transition.
The biggest headache with the move to the Air Raid was with the o-line. State’s OL was horrible in Leach’s first year but eventually developed into a strength. I expect some transitionary phase with the OL but nothing nearly as drastic as what State did in 2020. This is a return to a more standard offense and more like what these guys ran in high school, or in the case of transfers, at their previous schools.
I think they will be fine at skill positions. Marks is a good RB and they have depth. WR’s lost some production but return some underutilized guys who are probably more talented than the guys they “replace”. State played so many dang receivers under Leach so even if guys didn’t start, they still played plenty. Tulu Griffin has star potential if he’s fed the ball as much as they seem to want to.

The only thing I have seen is State fans are just pissed about getting picked last. It’s an annual joke. State hasn’t finished last in the SEC West since 2008 and has been to 13 straight bowl games.
I saw a prediction that had them 2-10,0-8. I just can’t see them losing two of their non-conference games and all of their SEC games.

Everything hinges on Will's ability to drive the offense and understand the different defensive sets. The material to be really good is all there, but it's whether or not he can adapt to the changes. If for some reason Rogers just can't hack it, Arnett is not going to sit by long and wait for him like Leach. He's gonna go with the next option.
I think Rogers will is going to be fine and I think Mike Wright will also play in situations.

This State fan is laying in my tent listening to the light rain and bears down in the meadow. Football season is the last thing on my mind.

Technically we finished last in 2020 tied with Arkansas

The past two seasons, that sunbelt OC outperformed ALL of the new SEC OCs (Arkansas, USC, Auburn, A&M, UK, UGA, UT, Bama) and four of the returning OCs in the SEC (LSU, Florida, Missouri, Vanderbilt).
ETA:
UGA whose OC was #67 in 2021.
UT, whose new OC has never been an OC.
Bama, whose new OC was #67 last year.
That leaves just one OC in the SEC (OM) who has outperformed State's OC the past two seasons.

Not against sec defenses dummy
that pro style sunbelt OC ought to really shine against a stacked box in the SEC
But of course the MSU fan base hated Leach , now you’ve got a real smart offensive coach

State's assistants have over a century of experience coaching in the SEC. Likely more than most teams in the SEC.
You simply do not know what you are talking about.
