Good god. Who gives a frick?

So you don't realize that no one who's not a moron on the internet gives a frick about where some faltering, irrelevant magazine ranks a college. The reasons no one who's not a moron on the internet cares about these rankings are pretty clear to anyone who's not a moron on the internet, but since you are a moron on the internet, I'll try to elucidate them.
22.5% of the ranking is the equivalent of the coaches poll; some low-level nobody fills out a meaningless survey about the reputations of the schools his school competes with.
12.5% is selectivity, which is out of our hands and everyone agrees has nothing to do with the actual education received by the students who aren't stupid.
22.5% is student retention. This is a function of selectivity and is, again, a stupid way to judge the educations received by the students who are retained.
7.5% is graduation rate. Again redundant.
This makes a total of 65% of the ranking that is total nonsense, 42.5pp of which are directly related to something the university doesn't control and that everyone agrees has nothing to do with the education received by those who actually receive it.
The remaining drivers are all financial, mostly redundant, and strongly reward the resort experience that so many universities push these days, to the detriment of the actual educations they provide.

That is rich coming from a fan of Ole Miss, the institution that is and has always been more a country club than a university.

Having lived next door to both, I will take Miss over SC every day of the week.

Seeing as how you took the time to dissect the rankings and examine how they come up with their results, you seem to 'give a frick'. So in one sentence, you just managed to call yourself a moron and waste your valuable Mississippi education on the internet defending your racist school's e-honor.
Congrats!

Sorry that your argument fell apart under scrutiny, but there's no need to be disingenuous.
For honest people, understanding the methodology is a prerequisite for dismissing the results.
Unrelated, but your estimation of the level of effort required to write my post makes me sad for you.

Fell apart? You Mississippi Rebals are basically telling me to throw out rankings (because at the end of the day, you can discredit just about any ranking...it's all relative) and admission criteria. That's like asking me to rate a restaurant without trying the food or sampling their wine collection.
You may not like the methodology of that ranking I posted, but it's no coincidence your school shows up near the bottom of rankings time after time. Your school is a safety net for kids from Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, and even Louisiana. I can continue to post other publications that also place your university near the bottom of rankings, but you'll probably discredit them because you don't like how they measured a particular program or how much emphasis they put on a certain test score.

State fans didn't want to here this.

I never really deal with people this stupid in real life so I can't tell if you're being serious or not, but that is the exact opposite of what you are being asked to do.
