I got into a heated discussion this morning with a co-worker because I said Les was the luckiest coach in the history of football. This guy starts pulling stats out of his arse from past championship teams and says Les is no more lucky than any other coach,of course I disagreed. Was I wrong? What say you rant.

The more talented team seems to always get "lucky"... give him credit for that, I guess.
To answer your question, yes... he does seem to get more than his fair share of luck.

Let's just say it should suffice to SAY that everyone says it for a reason. he's pissed off and using "stats" to support his theory. stats are developed over a long period of time.
ask yourself... how many times did LSU nearly lose, but win, under him just like last week?
how many times has he made a crazy call and GOTTEN what he wants?
why is he known as the river boat gambler or the mad hatter?

Bad coach.
Team's talent pulls out the wins for him.

Miles isn't ONLY lucky... he's not accidentally getting paid 3-4 million dollars. but he's not what y'all need.

Yes, you are wrong. If you think, for instance that LSU was lucky in the 2007 Florida game, you weren't paying attention. Miles made rational, intelligent choices to take the risk on 4th down because going on 4th down with short yardage is the right choice based on the statistical data. Was he "lucky" because he chose to go for the lead instead of playing for OT against Florida late in the game. I think most would think that Florida would have had the edge in OT. LSU needed to win in regulation. Miles knew it. He consistently made the right call in that game, go for the win instead of the FG to tie, use up as much time as possible to deny Florida the time to drive down the field for a TD. It was not luck, but good coaching, good strategy, well-executed by his players.
In his 4 bowl games, LSU has dominated the opponents, hardly luck.
Auburn 2007. Again, Miles made a reasonable choice. The field kicker had not been terribly consistent up to that point in the game. There was sufficient time to go for a TD pass in the endzone and still leave time for a FG if the pass was incomplete. Flynn nearly took too much time, but the call was a good call, not luck.
So exactly what was "dumb luck" that makes Miles lucky? It looks to me as if Miles has made some good choices, that sometimes look like luck.
Perhaps you don't remember that in the Arkansas game in 2007, Doucet lined up wrong (too far off the line), costing LSU a touchdown that would have changed the outcome of the game- LSU would have won without overtime. (He nearly made a similar mistake in the Auburn game, but it was waived off, if I recall correctly.) Was that lucky for Arkansas and bad luck for LSU? Nearly cost LSU the chance for the NC. I suppose you could say that the Pitt upset of WVa was luck, but I guess it balanced out the bad luck in TD in the Arkansas game that was recalled. That TD would have ended any debate about the 2007 BCS championship.
Most good teams have some close calls and a bit of luck. Miles is certainly not perfect, but much of what has passed for luck, really isn't.
