Emotional? You're bleeding all over this board trying to make your case. Why is it soooooo important to you to see this legislation passed?

I've always been the kinda guy that if another guy had a skill to make a buck or hit it big , then more power to him, but obviously the so called FANS of these players are only happy to see them broke and "not starving" and wearing the jersey of their favorite team, anything above that elicits extreme anger

I guess I'm shocked at the extreme levels of playa hatin' that is floating around

SMU might be relevant again if they allow this. This time they wouldn’t be cheating.

Not close to what's going to happen once this can of worms is opened.

When you guys recruited Herschel that Trans Am your bagman gave him was worth more than the house he grew up in

BS Both his parents worked and the Trans was purchased used from a Ford dealership where he used to work.

Abuse is HCs making $9MM Salaries playing cupcakes with HCs that make $300K while the players can't make a dime

What? Players can certainly make and even own a business.Players also get direct cash payments for COA,Housing Allowence and travel stipends...none of these guys are walking around campus cash strapped.Yea,I remember the BS story Chris Webber told everyone about not being able to "afford McDonalds" then later it came out he took 75k under the table at UM

Here we go again.Tell ya what if these guys are with so much why hasn't anybody started a pro league for 'em? You seem to think that the athletes are the sole reason these schools are generating "millions".It should be pretty damn easy to start up a league and make "millions" correct? It wouldn't last 2 years if that.

Just curious did you stop following MLB when players started getting $200+MM Contracts, did you stop listening to your favorite musician when they made $50MM in one year, of course not

WTF does have to do with college athletes who gladly signed up for what their doing and know the rules. They can quit tomorrow and make all the money they want.

Hell,Im all for letting any kid who wants to go pro to go ahead and leave. The college basketball regular has already been ruined by one and dones by I don't GAS about college basketball anymore so I really don't care.

Hardly.

The ability to spend money and the wisdom to spend it wisely are two different things. They’ve already proven that.

The Aggies will just blow millions on kids that wouldn’t start elsewhere, run the few good ones off through roster mismanagement, then proceed to muddle around in their usual mid-pack irrelevancy.

Paying players in this manner would be insane and the death penalty to the game as we know it. It would probably be the death of the NCAA as well though for those who don't like it. RIP college athelics.

Exactly. College sports will die from this. I've said it before. Introducing the most toxic element (money) into the system will destroy it. I cannot understand the perspective of some who believe the athletes are being cheated. No one is forced to participate. No one is being denied the right to start an organization that will do what they want. But no. They want to screw this one up over their idea of justice. Sorry. Nothing wrong is being done here.

Why not just increase the scholarship benefits for everyone? Give them an amount of pocket money or something. Increase their monthly allowances. Players aren’t asking for millions. They just want a little more than they are getting.

Also, when is anyone going to point out that the CA court ruling is probably unconstitutional or illegal? They cannot force the NCAA to change its rules.

The only problem I see is that the law pertains only to college athletes that play in California, which creates an unequal recruiting advantage for those schools. There is nothing in California's law that says schools can pay athletes. The law states that the athlete may sign endorsement deals for the rights to usage of their name. A marketable athlete will be able to do that whether he goes to Alabama, Wichita State or Eastern Washington as long as that law is applied nationwide. The key to to make this law applicable across the nation and not just in California. A law like this does not give any school recruiting advantages over other schools in any way that does not already exist provided it applies to all college athletes.
