Even if it is this, I don't know what would make it so bad. Honey Badger, and crew, were only suspended 1 game for it. I could care less if he's suspended for the lousy bowl game we're in.
What is Auburn's drug policy like? He might have failed multiple tests and be looking at a big suspension.

people were concerned with other drugs than pot with him.

That plus he seems like a good kid equals no big deal. There's either something else going on ( highly unlikely ) or people are just freaking out a bit.

I don't remember if any players under this staff have been suspended for drugs officially, but Mincy was forced to RS and was in the doghouse his whole freshman season, and the rumor was weed

Not sure, but I haven't heard about him getting tested positive before... Sure, there were rumors about his attitude and cockyness during the summer, but that was it and he hasn't been suspended for it before. I'm sure if he would've been caught once or twice, he would've been suspended at least one game...
But hey, what do I know? We'll see what happens.

For what it's worth, I heard the gun from the Felony Four is involved somehow.
ETA: In the transfer thing. Not sure about much, I heard rumbles of it a while back and didn't get into specifics.
