This is a submitted summary on his movies page.
quote:
Is this film going to be the warm and happy version of this story or is there going to be some truth involved?
Mainly, are they going to discuss the fact that Oher was adopted by Ole Miss boosters just so he'd attend their school of choice?
Are they going to mention that this was a clever work-around to NCAA rules that would allow a rich booster to throw all the money in the world at a top player?
Are they going to discuss how Oher was adopted, but his brothers and sisters with no athletic aspirations in the exact same situation were not?
Is it going to mention the fact that he couldn't read in high school but was still allowed to play football?
I doubt that actually happens considering it's based on the book that glorifies the whole situation, but oh well.

A submitted summary from who? On who's summary page? Who is "his" movies page?
Do you have a single solitary clue what you're talking about?

Have a few friends who played basketball and football with Oher. The guy who adopted him is a huge Ole Miss booster, a little insight into why he was adopted. He was enrolled at Briarcrest Highschool strictly on athletic ability. They also swear up and down the guy CAN NOT READ.
Wait...I thought the Tuohys were riding around Memphis and saw this poor guy walking in the snow with no coat or some other BS like that. Or was it just cold? What about the other kids? Wait...he was already enrolled in the private school? What? Oh hell, why let facts get in the way of a crock of sh*t story.
Edited to correct spelling.

You are a total and complete sack of shite. You are a waste of fricking carbon and you should immediately kill yourself to help improve the world.
And to RGC,
Are you seriously taking something written in the comments section of the IMDB site as a fact? That's a pathetic attempt at flamery. Probably written by someone similar to our friend toss here.
I do not know either Mr Oher or his parents (either set) personally. However, I did do some research by reading articles in the media, the book and asking questions of people who might know a thing or two about the situation. All in all, people have to make their own decisions once all available information has been reviewed.
Honestly, if you think an already wealthy white family would take in a homeless, uneducated huge black kid for the sole purpose of possible future monetary benefit, you have some major issues and I recommend you see a shrink, or at least make an appointment with TheDoc or HBT.

When this is the response, it seems a nerve has been touched.

I don't think anyone looks at the Tuohys as trying to make money off of him. I think they look at it as just a interesting happenstance that huge Mississippi boosters just happened to adopt a kid (and not his siblings) who has unbelievable athletic ability and he now is a star player for the Mississippi football team.

When this is the response, it sounds a little like little brother syndrome and penis envy.
The kid was on the team at a public school in Memphis his freshman year, didn't play and dropped out in favor of doing whatever it took to try and survive without parents. A wealthy, well respected, Christian family recognized his need and took him in AFTER he'd been enrolled at the private school through a foster family. There was already a very strong chance that he was going to OM without the Tuohy's influence because of his relationship with Hugh Freeze. You don't know what you're talking about. You are pissed because he helped us spank the fricking dog shite out of your school last year. You should stick to what you know, field pies, rusted out shitboxes, spit stained wife beaters and triple 13 application rates.

And when this is the response, it explains why the rest of us refer to Mississippi fans as snobbish douchebags.
See...I can name call too.

I think I read recently in an article about the making of the film that the Tuohys (especially Mrs. Tuohys) and Michael were so impressed with Saban that Michael was bound for LSU until it was learned that Saban was bound for Miami.

So you aren't denying it then, yes? Good. At least you recognize that you are wrong.
Michael Oher is an example of a rags to riches story. He had help. We all need help. You have a problem with the help he received because the school he went to was not your choice. Get over it. Bad mouthing a man (with exactly zero facts as back up) who has done well for himself on a message board is about the most cowardly, pathetic and generally douchey thing a person can do. Congratulations. Hope that works out well for you in the future.

Now see, don't do that. RGC and this toss a-hole are positive of one set of events. If you go throwing other possibilities into this, they will have to adjust their methods, and that would cause them to have to research a topic before discussing it. Geeeeez.

You have really gotten your panties in a wad over this. Why? I don't believe the whole Oher/Tuohy story, just as you wouldn't believe it if it had happened at State or any other institution. It happened at your favorite institution (Mississippi), so you believe it fully.

Oher sounds like a real doucher, why are you defending hom oh so much oxrebpatch?

I don't know the man from adam. He could be a no tipping, candy stealing, old lady shoving total arse face for all I know. Or, he forgot about a tip because he was distracted or something. Who knows. The point is no one does. And these to State hyenas are no different. If he turns out to be an arse, so be it. These two want to hang him based on what they THINK happened to him as a struggling kid in Memphis. Pathetic.

Jesus Christ you're an idiot. We're done. You obviously are some kind of pathetic, angry, bitter State fan who has released his human qualities in favor of some kind of homo-erotic, man love for all thigns Maroon. Good God man, your blind hate for the S.U.N. has jaded you so terribly that you cannot see a human success story for what it is. I hate LSU, but good things happening to kids who deserve it makes me happy. Sure, I wish those good things had happened for those kids at OM, but it doesn't keep me from recognizing those successes. You suck at life.

he's probably a college kid trying to earn a little money on the side. Nothing wrong with that.

Because it's been investigated to death. When he originally committed, during the draft, before the movie was settled. It happened. It's a fact. Like the moon landing and the Titanic.
