vs.

Have to remember 2004 AU was up double digits in the 4th quarter of every game they played all year except the LSU game. And that includes the SECCG and SB. Thing is that team ran all over everyone and the game was over before the 4th quarter started, so Tubbs just ran it up the middle to run clock for about half the season.

we were running clock in the SEC game too this year and several other games.

You can't manipulate stats like that among teams that didn't play the same competition.....
This, like the national champion every single year, is a matter of opinion.
Like I said, we need a playoff....I like my football played on the field and not in the hypothetical.

no manipulation.. those are the total games played and the total points scored. For everyone that wants to tout Au's offense and defense being so prolific.. Bama's matched them stats wise.
Soooooooooo.. Auburn fans, who think that 04 was such an awesome team.. you may now bow here to Bama 09.

You're just pissed off that I have a different opinion than you do.
I'm confident enough in my opinion to not be mad at you for feeling differently.

You don't get it.....you can't use stats like that because it was a different set of opponents who recorded their stats against different opponents.
This is like using stats from the 1920's that prove that a team from that era is better than a team from the 1990's.....it just doesn't work that way.
There is so much more that could be said here but I'll leave it at that and let you wallow in your ignorance.

of course not. Because I took away Auburns argument in comparing Au to being better than Bama with those two teams. Thank you for now backtracking on that argument that your fans have been using. Point made.

Wasn't the strength of Auburn's competition one of the knocks against them that year?

Pissed? Hardly...

I'm shocked...SHOCKED to see this discussion trend down team lines...

Like you said, its just a matter of opinion:

'04 Auburn is the best team in SEC history, in my opinion..

What I don't understand is what else do we have to compare two teams of two different periods by?
The teams will never see the field, and everyone is always a homer. Anyway, carry on.

It was a point poorly made by the media who was seizing on the flimsiest of evidence to deny us a shot in the big game.
The schedule rankings that year showed that our schedule was tougher than OU's and USC's......
Of course even a ranking of schedule toughness is a skewed set of data.....
We need a playoff where these teams have to actually face each other and not rely on the transitive property to determine who deserves a shot in the title game.....

Aren't you guys playing a team in it's first year of a football program this year?
That's embarrassing for a defending "national champion."
