Capital One should ask the judge to order her to tell who asked her to change the grades and whether she got any money for it. They might be missing a chance to get their judgment satisfied.

Her paycheck, or a portion of her paycheck?

Actually, it's a little confusing. From what i can tell, Capital One has a judgement they are trying to satisfy and they have served a garnishment on Memphis City Schools, and it appears MCS agreed recently to honor it.

On the other hand, is six points in one class really enough to make the difference between qualifying? (I honestly claim ignorance on this, I'm sure it can, but the chances seem low to me.)
If we're talking about changing the average by six points, that can be a pretty significant change. If the final average was determined by four 100 point exams and he made 70's on all of those, then changing his final average from a 70 to a 76 would be equivalent to giving him six additional points on every exam.

I think it's always just a portion if you are talking about a periodic paycheck. But, maybe they are trying to get at the last paycheck, leftover vacation pay, refunded retirement contributions, etc.
It's hard to tell from just the docket.
The actual case file is public record, though. You just have to go to the courthouse and buy a copy.

Why are we arguing this old shite anyways?
I'm guilty of bringing up the Albert Means case. I pretty much knew it would degenerate into a re-arguing of something that happened almost 15 years ago but there are too many potential parallels to ignore.
Memphis, controversial coach, multiple SEC schools involved, possible criminal activity.
Could make for an interesting parallel. Having said that, if it does turn out like the Means case thus far it appears the role of Alabama will be played my Mississippi State with Auburn playing Kentucky.

"She admitted making the changes, yet would not provide a rationale for the changes," William White of MCS wrote in an e-mail to a fellow schools official later that day.
What? So she took a "yeah i did it" attitude but didn't say why?

"She was certain someone had asked her to make the changes but was reluctant to name anyone who may have been involved."
This woman is beyond moronic. So she admits someone asked her to do so, but wont go into who? She has to know that will only fuel speculation.
Not sure why I allow myself to be surprised by the level of stupidity of some people.

maybe she knew the rant needed a good speculation thread.
Clever names for this one yet?

I have started to take this stance.
I am not even sure she was insentivised(sp) by anyone...just a dumb bitch that changed a grade to help out a kid.

Listeing to Gary Parrish out of Memphis, who knows a fair amount of how this shady recruiting stuff happens, and he said he thinks she wasnt ready and didnt have her story straight when she was contacted.

Says the guy who's team has (a) had a coach quit two weeks before kickoff and (b) confirmed that both it and the NCAA are investigating a "potential recruiting irregularity".

You were trying to make a parallel to the Albert Means situation, which was fricking stupid.
Eta: Literally, the only thing these two situations have in common is they both occur in Memphis.

Time will tell. It could indeed be a stupid comparison, but there's a lot more potential for common themes than the location.
