Excuses are for losers no matter who is making them.

Oh, and since this is a speculation thread and I've been throwing around one that makes Auburn look like they might be guilty, I'll offer up another theory.

It is not outside the realm of possibility that the NCAA still has a boner for both Mississippi State and Auburn over the Cam Newton saga and are thus looking for any possible reason to stomp on them.

If the NCAA had wanted to "stomp" AU and MSU they would have done it.

I'd say that pretty much clears Auburn. You don't arrange for a grade to be changed then call the principle asking about the inconsistency.

With Rich in place I doubt you'll ever see the coaches do much in the grey area. He has wayyyyy to much influence, if he says somethings a no go it is a no go I don't care who Chizik or Barbee or anyone calls that's a done deal. He also has no problem reporting if a coach screws up badly as well, he wants to get a major job at the NCAA so you won't see him risk that.

Memphis strikes again, the rumors going around are at least 3 schools involved in some shady recruitment of players there again. How much can be proven and who they are remains to be seen.

I'm also curious as to why Tennstud made a lot of mistakes when it comes to Auburn on stuff that was very common knowledge and yet now seems to have no clue about some of what is going on there. I wonder if he's clueless or running interference for someone.

I personally like Chizik and he seems to basically be an honorable guy...BUT.....the issue that seems to be overlooked is that Roboinson is the latest in a long string of questionable signings....the grade change pencil slip and whether AU was involved or not is beside the point....its just the latest questionable/marginal recruit and player flameouts we have seen at AU.....I strongly doubt Robinson will wind up being a meaningful contributer at AU

If the NCAA wanted to hammer AU or MSU it could have. It could have very easily made sure Newton was declared ineligible and for AU to sit him for a game to cause us to lose one.

MSU ended up disassociating a booster over this and had people on record saying non-coaches were involved in the recruitment of players. How they escaped with no major sanctions is beyond me.

If the NCAA wanted AU they could have drilled AU during the long intensive investigation they had on AU. You VASTLY underestimate the scrutiny AU took during that time. I never in a million years thought any program could come out of that in the clear, not even Harvard or Yale.
