If they go to the MAC bowl in Atlantis all sharks will become an endangered species

Mac did a really good job at Colorado State too. Not really sure what was behind the flameout at Florida.
Sometimes coaches just aren't a good fit for a particular job or maybe G5/mid-major is his ceiling.

Mac just wasn't a good fit for Florida. I don't think he's a bad coach

Doug
Nussmeier
Probably the worst OC in the nation

No kidding. If bama had just about any other OC in 2013 (say someone who was better than 25% of other OC's in FBS), I firmly believe we would've had a 3-peat. But fricking Nuss... just terrible.

High probability for sure.

Too bad he never could win anything at florida other than the East two out of three years at florida. Hope he is taking notes on the bang up job Mullins is doing there now.

Florida is too close to the ocean for him, so he kept getting distracted. He's better off inland.

I’ll never forgive Pussmeier for the ‘12 aTm game. 1st and goal at the 6, running game has the Aggy D on the ropes and Pussmeier goes shotgun 4-wide. Aaaaargh!

The fans there are some of the worst in the country. Spurrier said on his way out the door that they would get pissed if UF didn’t win by 50. They forced Urban Meyer into a brief retirement as well. Coach Mac was run off despite back-to-back divisions championships.

Hey can I ask a dumb question and get an honest answer?
Where does shark fu**** come from?

He was caught being dishonest to the administration, and there were several other disagreements between him and Stricklin. Him leaving was inevitable, but the UGA week fiasco just was the tipping point.

Someone farked McElwain's face on a photo of some naked guy on the back of a fishing boat that appeared to be molesting a shark.
It would have been good for a couple days worth of laughs on tRant but someone sent it to McElwain and he went ballistic.
His way over the top reaction ensured it will live forever.

Actually, I remembered it a little wrong. It wasn't a fark, the guy just looked like McElwain.
This story should explain it and includes the photo.

Shame he got caught.

Some guys are just better at smaller schools taking lesser talented kids and just coaching them up. But they get overwhelmed at larger programs when you have to deal with the macro-level head coach responsibilities like recruiting, personnel management, player management, and maintaining a busy schedule and commitments. The great ones like Saban and Meyer are very detail-oriented and meticulous in everything they do.
I do think McElwain has some good traits like being able to identify some underrated players but he was just so disorganized and his S&C program was a mess.
Taggart is another guy like this. Was just in over his head. Would probably do fine going back to a smaller program.

Especially since his starting QB got busted for PEDs. Again.

Exactly how I feel about Moorhead at MSU. I think he would e an excellent G5 coach or the right P5 team - Purdue, Georgia Tech, Rutgers
