Is it "MACKel-roy" or "Mack-ELroy"?

I can't remember how to pronounce his name and it bugs me every time I read his name in a thread.

Does it really matter how McElroy's name is pronounced? You're not going to hear his name again after this year.

No it's not. Emphasis is on the "Mack", not the "El". Sounds like "Mackleroy"

True but that wasn't the two choices he had listed (MACKel-roy" or "Mack-ELroy)

FWIW my last name begins with "Mc"

Yeah, that's why he capitalized the "Mack" in the first option. He doesn't pronounce his name like most people with "Mc" at the beginning of their name. It all runs together, as opposed to emphasis being placed on the first few letters that follow the Mc. "Mackleroy"

I was actually gonna make a thread about this during the season cuz it annoyed the hell out of me every time the announcers said his name. It should be pronounced "mic-elroy" like every other name that starts with Mc, like "mic-fadden" or "mic-daniel". Not "macaroy" or however they say it. Maybe it's a family thing I dunno.

Yeah it is frustrating. Seems like the Bama fans disagree amongst themselves, too. This is the way I've always leaned towards saying it: LINK (it's at 0:40)

Btw, Auburn fans may want to pass on this video

Unless "I go for 276 and 2 TDs against LSU".
