Tell me you don’t watch football without telling me you do t watch football, SMH.
Lets revisit how the tigers ended 2019 once D got healthy
Arky 56-20
Aggy 50-7
Georgia 37-10
Oklahoma 63-28
Clemson 42-25
Clemson and UGA were top 5 Ds. And LSU shredded them

Oh, you’re for sure right about that.
So what about the rest of those games. Those definitely don’t count!

That LSU defense was LOADED with talent. Look at the draft picks on it.

To be honest, just in general when discussing football, most people really don't care about what you do against the lesser teams on your schedule as long as you win (and that's even in these greatest of all time debates). Miami's close calls in 2001 come to mind.
2019 was not one of LSU's best defenses. They had timely playmaking ability and they were actually very talented (though banged up for a good part of the season).
I believe LSU had 10 of 11 starters drafted from that D (including 3 1st rounders) and I think 16 guys who played on that D overall were drafted.
That D finished #1 in the nation in passes defended/broken up per game, were in the top 20 in Ints./game and were around the top 5 in opponent 3rd down conversion %.
Down the stretch, against the best scoring offenses they played all year, they held every team well under their scoring average. They held the #2 scoring offense (Bama) 6 below their average (13 if you count that 7 points came from an incredible punt return TD) , they held the #4 offense (Clemson) 18 below their average and they held the #6 scoring offense (OU) 14 below their average (and to a season low rushing yard total under 100). So when it meant the most then and in the SECCG when they held UGA to 20 below their scoring average, LSU's D showed up and made big plays.
That's what people remember despite the inconsistency earlier in the season. Maybe they should consider the inconsistency when having the best of all time debates, but what you do against the best has been the measuring stick for a long time.

Bama’s 2020 defense didn’t seem to have that problem.
Helps when top athletes are sidelined or opting out on opposing teams.

The only team that had multiple starters sitting on defense during the regular season was LSU. Funny how that works.
French blood and whatnot.

Impressive stat, especially considering the gauntlet of QBs LSU faced that season. Find me another team on the list who faced more future NFL starting QBs. You can’t.

The fact that you have waves and waves of Alabama fans leaving slug tracks on the thighs of 95 Nebraska says it’s a foregone conclusion that LSU 2019 was BSOAT
Best Season Of All Time
Thank you for your thoughts.

The fact that you people still feel the need to start threads about it to validate yourselves tells the real story.

Hunny, YOU validate the thread as I just stated, above.

Alabama Football:
Record (W-L-T): 967-309-42
Conf. Championships: 29
13 wire-service (AP or Coaches') national titles in the poll-era

Be included on a Matt Leinart list???

Why does every insecure Bama fan try to make everything about Bama?

You are sooooo soft. Melting for two days, because someone post a link about the best teams in NCAA history. This thread has nothing to do with Alabama, yet here you are.

What was your purpose in starting this thread?
If you didn’t want big bad bammers calling bullshite based on facts, you should have posted it on the Tiger Rant.
No, you were craving validation and really needed us to chime in. So, here we are, sweetheart.
Suck it.

Not by the mid-90s. Tom Osborne had changed up how he recruited his offensive line as well as his offensive backfield.
No, he didn’t.
Turner Gill, Mike Rozier, Roger Craig, Tom Rathman, Irving Fryar, Dave Remington, Dean Steinkuhler were as good as anyone Nebraska has had on offense.
quote:
Take the 1997 Nebraska Cornhuskers team against 1997 Tennessee - a team loaded with NFL talent. Nebraska ran all over them in the Orange Bowl with Ahman Green rushing for 201 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
1. How many yards did Green have against Arizona State in 1996?
2. I don’t think anyone is confusing 1997 Tennessee with an all-time great defensive front.
quote:
And yet they were among the most dominant lines in the history of college football. Despite Tommie Frazier and Brook Berringer dropping back a combined 200 times, the Nebraska offensive line didn't give up a sack all season long. Not only that, they were never once called for holding and Frazier, Phillips, Green, and Childs all averaged over seven yards per carry on the year.
Yeah, it must be nice to go play at Kansas instead of 100,000+ Bryant-Denny against a prime Saban team like 2019 LSU.
quote:
Phillips rushed for over 100 yards in the 1995 Orange Bowl against one of the best front sevens Miami had ever fielded in their program's long history.
And it took Nebraska until the 4th quarter to break double digits on the scoreboard. A vintage Miami offense has the game put away by then.
