I really have no idea what to expect. I'm not going to form an opinion yet.

I hope he's good, but it wouldn't surprise me if we're not satisfied next season.

At least we have Aranda. I think our defense will improve every season going forward we have him, just from the guys being in his system for a longer period.

He's no Milton Uzbekistan, I'll give you that. But he has some sound credentials, eh. Given LSU's choices right now, he looks to be a pretty good hire. They don't need Spurrier to win, they just need an offense good enough to score some and keep their defense from getting gassed.

QBs under Canada:

1994-1995: Chris Dittoe (Detroit)
1996: Eli Stoddard
1997: Chris Finlen (New Orleans)
1998: Craig Harmon
1999-2001: Chris Finlen (New Orleans)
2002-2003: Josh Haldi (Cincinnati)
2004: Matt LoVecchio (New York Giants)
2005: Blake Powers
2006-2008: Kellen Lewis
2009-2010: Ben Chappell
2011: Tre Roberson (Minnesota)
2012: Nate Sudfeld (Washington)
2013: Chandler Harnish (Indianapolis)
2014-2015: Jacoby Brissett (New England)
2016: Nate Peterman

The majority were either drafted in the NFL or were on an NFL roster at one time or another. The rest still had great success in college. For example, Blake Powers broke many of Antwan Randle-El's records at Indiana.

LSU is finally going to have a QB worth a damn..

I don't know if he's a good OC or not but anybody will seem like a bad OC under Orgeron.

Avg 4 tds a game over his career. Our old coach avg less than 2 1/2 and we won 9 games.

Canada's was mainly out if the I-formation, he mixed in jet sweeps and had a cool play called the "barge".

That was at Wisconsin. He mixed it up more at Pitt.

In fact I remember him at Wisconsin in 2012 or 2013.

I think everyone would take Nick Saban at this point. But since we're cherry-picking from the past, let's take a look at some Saban history:

Nick Saban's first four seasons at Michigan State: 6-5-1, 6-6, 7-5, 6-6.

Nick Saban lost to UAB in his first season at LSU and lost to Mississippi State (with Sylvester Croom) and UL-Monroe in his first season at Alabama.

Nick Saban had one year at LSU where he lost fewer than three games, and he lost three games the season after he won the BCS title at LSU (including a 45-16 loss to Georgia). Oh, my God, LSU gave up 45 points in a game in which Nick Saban was the coach and de facto defensive coordinator. God, he sucks.

I have no idea how Matt Canada will do at LSU, and he could fail. But I'm not fretting over a few bad games and a bad year.
