Richt is right.

At this point, I'm pretty much ready to just eliminate athletic scholarships altogether. We already have this thin line between college football and professional sport, and the pro aspect is clearly winning. More and more, I think the Ivies and the U. of Chicago had it right when they killed off sports scholarships decades ago. Be honest. The vast majority of players aren't really interested in getting an education. They see college ball as a ticket to the NFL, and I'm tired of colleges subsidizing the League, essentially being their minor league for free. Let the NFL set up its own minor league and pay for it. Let the kids with no interest in an education go there. The rest, require that they compete academically to get in like any other student, then tell them to show up for spring tryouts if they want to play ball, and good luck to them. Make college sports college again.

Declining attendance figures say you're wrong.

That's quite a lot of anger and salt.

I get called a conspiracy theorist (which is fine) but I continually say there is a push to destroy football in this country by leftists. You’ve seen it in the NFL on many fronts. You will see it in college football. This rule will hurt college football in the long run.

Rightfully so. Just stop.

Just stop. You wouldn't be on this site if you weren't a CFB fan.

How are they "clearly" winning? CFB ratings and revenue have never been better.

Colleges are graduating players at a far higher rate than they did 25 years ago and even if the athletes don't get a degree these kids are better off with the college expirence.LOTS of non athletes go to college and never graduate.

Geez and colleges would lose millions and it would effect ALL students and their education.

Sorry, the positives of big time CFB FAR outweigh the negatives. Its helped out 100's of thousands of kids on and off the field along with the institutions especially in the south.

Then don't play. Nobody is forcing these kids to play. They play of their own free will. They get quite a lot to play for a school. They get benefits regular students can only dream of. If they don't give a damn about getting an education and taking advantage of that gift, other than to play football, that's on them.

If that's the case then do these things:

Cap HC Pay at $1Million per year

Cap Coordinator pay at $600K per year

Cap Position Coaches at $400K per year

If anyone complains, tell them don't coach on the College level, if they want more money then go work in the NFL, after all that's what you tell the Players

No one is forcing these guys to Coach in College, they coach of their own free will

If you're not willing to tell Coaches the same thing, then don't tell it to the Players

Outside of Tuition regular students don't generate any money for the school, comparing Regular students to FB & MBB that generate Tons of cash by a small number of players is idiotic
