I just wanted to post this stat I saw. I thought it was pretty amazing. I have no problem saying that Auburn, Tennessee and Alabama are all better teams than UK this year, but given his first season, and having to cobble together a team.
Number of games coaching the Kentucky Wildcats before winning 3 games vs. AP top 10 teams:
Billy Gillispie: N/A
Rick Pitino: 101
Joe B. Hall: 77
John Calipari: 75
Eddie Sutton: 68
Tubby Smith: 38
Adolph Rupp: 34
Mark Pope: 14

I would personally like to thank Cal and the Tyson chicken dude for making this all possible.

this is a stupid stat if comparing coaches. it should be first to 3 wins against top 10 teams in attempts against top 10 teams. SEC is loaded this year so more opportunity.

Well, he's 3-0 if that makes you feel better.
Considering UK is the greatest tradition in college basketball and has the most history, I thought it was interesting.

I agree the stat is misleading and not an accurate comparison between the coaches.

You’re welcome.
Build the Pope statue. Why wait.

I'll give Pitino a break, his first year roster was pretty slim.

I didn't really read it as a comparison between the coaches perse, just a stat of when they each won their 3rd game against AP Top 10.
To me, it's more of showing what Pope has accomplished, given what he started with. I guess I didn't overthink it and just thought it was an amazing stat.

Love or hate the poster (I’m not a fan of him) or love or hate Kentucky basketball (I’m not a fan of UK either), I can’t deny that what Mark Pope is doing is incredibly impressive. I thought he was a really good coach at BYU, but he has put together a quality team and has them performing at a high level far faster than I would have expected.

I am a fan of Arkansas. Cal is a great recruiter. But Cal is a poor coach. I was disappointed when Arkansas hired him. I preferred him at UK.

That’ll be every year, FYI.

We lost every single player except for Perry (freshman commit). That won’t happen every single year.
