You can book it that Malzhan will be gone from Aub if he gets any decent offer and it will not matter what he is offered at Aub. He is too smart to stay in a barn that the rats will be leaving because of smoke in it.

Do not underestimate the depths of Texas' pockets, arrogance, or foolishness. I lived in Austin for five years and never saw a limit in any of those three areas. If they were to make up their minds that they had to have Malzahn they would and probably wear what they paid an OC for one year like a badge of honor.

I can hear it now: "Only Texas can pull of something like this! Hook 'em!"

That being said, I doubt it will come to that. If Malzahn is willing to leave for another OC job, coaching in Austin is about as cushy as it gets, and I doubt there will be a bidding war. If he is waiting for an HC job to open up somewhere down the line where he believes he'd like to be, I don't see why he would leave Auburn. I would think his own opinion on where he wants to be five years from now and and how best to get there matters more than a bidding war.

But guys, Gus is already Co-Head Coach of the potential BCS Champs. Why take a demotion to be OC at Texas?

Well, I know I said that UT wouldn't shell out 7 figures for a year, but the above quote is making me change my mind

Very apt description

Texas fans are fricking delusional. I live in the midst of these tools and have to hear about them every day. Hey Texas, guess what, you couldn't even get bowl eligible in the Big 12.

He will get out before they kill the football program. He will not return next year. If he doesn't get the HC job he wants, OC at Texas is a great place to be until one opens. NOT Aub.

So Sad -

I wish Alabama would make him an offer, and demote McElwain to Saban's personal dick-sucker.

And????????????.........Gus stock will never be higher as it is right now. With what you lose and cam not returning his star will not be as bright next year plus add all of the other stuff into the mix.

Didn't Chiz already do something very similar?

A lot more to that situation than just Chizik trying to get a better spot, Chizik had a specific reason he left that time and it had little to do with money Texas offered. Same with Muschamp.

Gus isn't taking another OC spot somewhere, Chizik treats his assistants very well and Gus is paid handsomely. Considering the job offers Gus got last year he's not going to be an OC anywhere else when he leaves Auburn it will be as a HC and that is on his timeline. Texas is looking at a bidding war with Florida for their OC though so it should get interesting.

So you are ok with McElwain replacing you?

You do realize Saban is forcing him to run an offense he doesn't like. He's going to be a HC soon and you won't see an offense anywhere near what he runs at Bama.
