I'm gonna try to make the game this year as well, was at the 2011 game, and might do this.

Pace yourself or you'll never make it to the game.

spend the night in baton rouge THE FRIDAY night. you will need your rest. tailgate early as was mentioned.

if you're cool, you won't even have to bring alcohol or food. we will feed and drink you all day.

I'll second what some others have said.

Stay in BR. I know you've never been to Nola, but if you're coming to LA for a game, make your trip all about the game and what surrounds it. Save your trip to Nola when you actually have time to enjoy it. You don't wanna be late to the tailgate scene Saturday and you don't wanna have to worry about getting back after the game. Screw that shite.

Stay in Baton Rouge, go to bars Friday, tailgate as early as possible Saturday. Make it a marathon event. Pace yourself and take all taunting in stride. If you laugh it off, people will invite you for food and all you can drink. You do that, you're set.

Enjoy

After you are good and sauced after the game, walk across campus barefoot towards Wendy's. go to the apartments across the street , hit the button and say the secret name JJ. Should be a good way to cap the weekend off

Get there early.... No, earlier than that.... Earlier..... keep trying..... If the sun is up, you are late. Thats how they roll in BR. Try to find a group of cool folks to hang out with and ride it all day long. Last year was by far the best away trip I've ever taken. Also, if you get a chance, and they have it up and going, check out Mud-Gate. I'd tell where you where it was but I got lost twice and had to get help finding my way back there.

Do this.

And as said earlier, make this trip about the game. Not about NOLA.

Enjoy
this. I say make it all about the game/game day festivities. If you try to soak in the N.O. experience too you will short change yourself on both ends.

Staying in New Orleans is fun, but the drive on game day and the drive back Saturday night would suck. I would stay downtown. They have plenty of bars, restaurants, casinos, etc. to keep you occupied. Make sure you pick up either a carry ice chest or rolling ice chest for game day. I wouldn't worry about food at all. If you are not a dick somebody will make sure you are fed.

This is how you should do it. Get out there super early to tailgate. Be friendly and random fans will shower you with beer and food. The LSU fan has a mentality of "tigerbaiting" you and immediately giving you a beer and food.

If its a night game, pace yourself, we start before the sun comes up and don't stop till way after it sets

Here's the thing with LSU fans. They're loud and can be obnoxious, but if take their ribbing in stride and have a good time with it, they'll put an arm around you and shower you with good food and hospitality. By far my favorite road trip in the SEC.

Watch out for all the butt secks. LSU dudes start doing it with each other all over the place right before game time...

bullshite. We always wait until after the game for that.

BTW, I thought it was looking like Florida may be a day game this year.

Yeah, the first time I went to baton rouge wwe did the Nola thing and I did not enjoy BR at all. It's wasn't bad, it just wasn't good. But when I went and made it all about the baton route experience it all came together.

Skip Nola and save it for when you can dedicate a weekend just for it.

If you have never been to Louisiana, do yourself a favor and spend the weekend in New Orleans and just drive to BR for the game and then back as quickly as possible. You will still see all you need to of Baton Rouge and have much more fun.

This was the tough part. Luckily I am skilled at drinking all day and know the proper procedure to stay upright.

We did the NOLA thing on Friday night one year and ended up playing through all night and driving up to BR around 5 in the morning. It made for a VERY long day of tailgating. Expensive too for all those keybumps.

Never again.

Don't drink and drive. At all. DUI's are a big revenue generator for the city-parish, especially on a football weekend.
