re: Missing Person - UPDATE PAGE 3

Hi Folks,

I'm Joe. I've been on Tigerdroppings for a long time, mostly in the rant during football season. I'm a proud LSU grad.

Megan is my daughter. She attends CU but rest assured, she's a Tiger.

She is still missing. We have FBI and seven other agencies actively looking for her as well as hundreds of volunteers canvassing neighborhoods in Boulder. The residents of this town have also come to our aid in a big way. The outpouring of support has been unreal.

Megan is not a drug user and not much of a partyer. She's a chill kid who loves Smashing Pumpkins, plays bass, and is a film major. She's eclectic--pink hair is her thing, like lots of students at CU.

If you can help get the word out, we would appreciate it. As you can imagine, we are living in a nightmare right now; however, I don't have time to collapse into despair. I have to find my daughter.

Thank you.

Thanks for the plug! I didn't know this thread existed until now.

The book was a passion project based partially on my seven-year undergrad residence at LSU.

I'll be at the Louisiana Book Festival in October if you want it signed or want to discuss!

Cheers,
Joe
I read somewhere that in the early days of football, the rule was three downs to get five yards, so the fields were marked in five-yard increments. When the rule changed to four downs to get ten yards, everybody else went to ten yard markers. LSU stayed with five.

I can't find the article to corroborate, so I could be lying.
:geauxtigers:

Edit: The rule changed in 1912, so that part is true.

Got a "Geaux Tigers" on the Ouray side of Engineer Pass a couple of weeks ago.

The guy was a Ga Tech grad but "...LSU is my favorite SEC team."
Watched the first half in the west upper deck, got soaked, watched the second half at Murphy's.
Sleepy weekend in Baton Rouge, I watched it a buddy's house on East Boyd. After the game we walked outside and you could hear cars horns honking all over the place.

Fred's was packed by 5pm. A bunch of the players showed up at around 9; it was just a giant, crazy party. A great, great night in an otherwise lame football era.

Saban declined a dinner invitation from President Bush when he was at Miami because it interfered with his coaching, on a Sunday night in the off-season no less...I'd guess he doesn't want the distraction.

Edit: Here's the link.

Schlumberger coveralls (hand-me-downs from my neighbor) while I work on a car project and watch in my garage.

109 Row 33, 8 together.

LSU and CU had a home and home scheduled for 2013-2014 but Colorado cancelled and replaced LSU with a home game against Fresno State. We Colorado LSU alums had been looking forward to it for six years. Very disappointing.

Regardless, the 2013 Colorado floods ended up happening and as a result the Fresno State game was called off--So even if CU hadn't cancelled the series, that home game vs. LSU wouldn't have happened anyway.

CU is a great place to go to a game. Very different from LSU, but fun. I always pull for CU in Pac 12 games...

And i also remember watching LSU lose in a downpour, but against FSU in ‘91, when they were #1 in the country.. still cant get that annoying ‘OH, oh ooohh’ chant out of my head.. But running back to Power Hall from Tiger Stadium with my friends in the rain after the blowout loss and and the party that ensued is still a great memory in my mind.. would be even better if we’d won, or even been competitive.

We were competitive. We were up 13-0 in the first half but they turned it on in the 2nd. 27-16 final score.

I tumbled down the bleachers of the half-empty student section when we scored on that long Todd Kinchen catch on the first series.

Daylight savings was that night and Murphy's was open until 3am with Better than Ezra. Win or lose, I agree that it was a great night.

You could climb up on the roof of married housing and see the field from behind left/center. Watched a few games from there.

:geauxtigers:
Last night on the local news in Denver a sportscaster said "Devin White from LSU was so fast in the 40 that he probably ran right past the Broncos' #10 pick to #6 or 7."

:geauxtigers:
That's the only game I've ever been to where the home team fans apologized for beating us and said they hoped it wouldn't ruin our trip or our opinion of Wisconsin.

We got our bar tab picked up by Wisco fans at two different places after the game. Pathologically nice folks, great atmosphere, shitty football.

I didn't camp out an ended up missing it, but you could hear the PMAC from halfway across campus.

Sidenote: I remember the old barber at the Union bitching about "...all these kids coming in asking for 'Laettner' haircuts."
