Well I tried to prompt it to agree that rookie minicamp can be thought of as NBA workouts that allow college basketball players to maintain eligibility while exploring making the higher move but it chooses to dance around the similarities.

The NCAA grants medical waivers per their own rules. However, the NCAA arbitrarily decides who gets them. And because the NCAA is a monopoly the only remedy is a lawsuit to examine whether or not the NCAA is evenly applying its own rules.
Now for the oranges!
The SEC does not allow former professional athletes to play for any member institution. 16 school presidents agreed to the rule including lsu. The SEC is not a monopoly. There are many other conferences lsu can join if they refuse to comply with the rules they voluntarily agreed to.

The SEC also, by rule, doesn't allow players ruled ineligible by the NCAA to compete. Which Chambliss has been.

The separation of amateur and pro is over.
The question is whether someone is a college player or an NFL player?
An NFL player can no longer be defined by pay for play - what type of pay for play contract they signed or how much they were paid.
My opinion, but being on a roster can’t be the definition either. If a mini camp invite is just a tryout, isn’t a preseason camp invite a tryout too?
An NFL player is a player who has played in a regular season NFL game. That seems like the cleanest definition.
I think the draft declaration timeline is a fair rule moving forward. Guys with an option need to choose college or the NFL by a date. But that doesn’t apply to the 2022s who were never given the option to declare.
