They had been doing better with that prior to the game Tuesday. BTW, they didn't do a bad job of it in the first half of that game either. If you watch the reply, you'll see that all but 1 of those first 9-10 threes were defended. Bama was just hitting everything it threw up. I didn't watch the second half because I knew LSU would just be playing out of desperation at that point which would lead to more mistakes and poorer defense.

Good but inflated IMO.

Inflated by what? Is this the point in the discussion where you play the "herp derp, but muh asterisk" card? Because we have played a pretty challenging schedule thus far. It's not like we have gone on a cupcake binge this season.

No. It's the point where I think opposing teams take worse shots and make more mistakes when the other team hits 7 threes in a row in the first 5 minutes. Sorry that makes you mad.

I think a lot of us LSU fans felt the same about our team in 2018. It had been so long since we had a good team that we are all just kind of waiting for the bottom to fall out.

So what about the other 14 games where we didn't do that? Just gonna ignore those?

I won't argue that Bama was shooting well, but bad is exactly what I would call LSU's defense that night. I guess they were "guarded" in the sense that someone was within 4 feet with a hand in the air. They played decent perimeter defense on some possessions, but certainly not 90% of them to start the game. It was one of the first things they talked about in Oats's post game interview. Basically said they were able to take advantage of LSU collapsing on drives to get wide open looks from outside and they've played that way all year. I've only watched three LSU games, but I'm assuming Oats has seen a bit more and knows what he's talking about.

LSU Kenpom Ranks

Overall Rank: 32
AdjO: 6
AdjD: 127
AdjT: 95

Kenpom agrees, btw. Great offensive team, pretty average defensively.

Bama basketball fans live in a perpetual cycle of hype and hope, early-mid season success, met with disastrous end of season letdowns.

Yeah, those of us that have been around have seen this way too many times (though not to this degree) to be buying-in that far down the road.

At this point it's exciting to be in this position though, and it's hinting at an overall trend that we haven't seen for a long time.

Let's call it cautiously optimistic.

Did you watch they replay? I'm just referring to the first 15-20 minutes of the game. There were defenders right in their face on all but a couple of those 3s. Game was over after that.

I think the SEC is actually better than they get credit for. That being said, Bama isn't really built for a tournament run IMO. If they are hot with the 3 ball like the other night, they can beat anyone, but nothing else about their team really stands out.

What an awful take. Do you even watch the games?

Making you angry is fun. The fact that all I have to do is not talk about your first 14 games to achieve that makes it even better.

No. I just let Bama fans tell me what happened.

Bama can keep playing as well as they have been in this stretch, they will be higher than a 3 seed. Are Bama fans concerned that the team may be peaking too soon?

We may be but will have to take it bc we are used to not peaking at all

I'd be thrilled if LSU was undefeated in SEC play. I just know that this board and the rant tend to both make way too much of one game when LSU is involved.

The only game we've truly been "hot" from 3 is LSU. We've shot the 3 ball pretty well all season, but never like we did against LSU. We've been consistent from 3, but not extraordinary. We've really been beating teams with the dribble drive. We get to the hoop at will it seems, and that leaves shooters open eventually and we get good shots from three. If they back off to stop the drive, we still get good shots from the perimeter. It's really a combination of good offense and having five guys on the court that can put the ball on the floor and shoot it.

BAMA's also been winning with hussle and good defense. We've been tough on D, and this is really where Alabama isn't getting the credit they deserve.

Oats can really coach basketball. He's really good, and he has excellent leadership from our seniors. This is a very legitimate team.

It's the worst to be an 8 or 9 seed. What year was it that we had to play UNC in the second round? I think it was '09. I believe we were the only team to lose to UNC by single digits in the tourney. We may have been able to get a couple of more wins if we were the 7 or 10 seed.

I'm just sharing my opinion. Good to see that it doesn't piss everyone off just because it doesn't fit the board narrative.
