In the very next sentence, I backed up my claim that he finished strong with hard numbers. Read man!

Then why did they go 7-4 in the regular season with a team "loaded with NFL talent" and competent qb play?
Brandon Harris played the entire first loss to Wisconsin. Of the 3 Etling lost, one was to Auburn with Les Miles still the HC and Cam Cameron still the OC. That offense was painful to watch. And yet it still came down to the last play. The second was to Bama, whose front 7 dominated the trenches. The third was to Florida which was the flukiest game I've ever seen. 3 times inside the 10 and no points.

Outside of Florida, those teams had an average pass d ranking of 62. Vs Florida he didnt have a good game.

LSU is always loaded with talent (more active NFL players than anyone in the country)
That isn't really correct. Now it's Alabama, and when the NFL season actually starts and all roster positions are filled, it will be more than in this article

1 out of 3 isn't so bad.
Definition of an average arm, but his throwing motion is not bad, and he probably does the best job of moving within the pocket of any QB we have had since Jamarcus.

I just about started this exact same thread today. Etling was very solid last year. His 2 worst games were Bama (absolutely horrendous) and Auburn (still Les' offense). Against Florida he threw for over 200 yards, we would have won that game if not for atrocious mistakes in the redzone by the entire offense and their 1 fluke deep ball TD.
There is no reason to think that he won't be just as good if not better under Matt Canada. Some things won't be fixed, like his arm strength, but I expect to have more open WRs, a more balanced offense, and just an overall better opportunity for him to succeed.

Probably because the same fricked system was in place due to the fact that the season had started Mr. Wizard.Oh and Cajun Bama is a colossal pussy, that is all.

I get that you are trolling, but you could have at least thrown in some factual evidence to support your claims besides just throwing out generic QB criticisms.

Not totally wrong but he isn't a statue in the pocket.
He moves pretty well.
We are harig camp hype post back surgery. Apparently he was playing with a herniated disc. I'll believe it when I see it but plenty of weaker arms have had decent success in college.

Etling played with a bad back last year. He said that in some games he couldn't feel his left leg. He said that he could only throw with his arm and couldn't use his body and that he had to alter his throwing motion and his foot work to alleviate pain.
Today, he is back healthy, and the reports from the players in camp are that he has never looked better or anymore healthier. Chark says at first he was surprised, as he has much more zip on his throws and others have said that his accuracy and his movement within the pocket have both significantly improved. Etling himself says he's trying to unlearn all the bad habits he had picked up because of the injury. Of course, none of us know for sure, but I'm hoping those reports are accurate. Watch out, he may surprise people.

Averaged 1.12 rushing yards a game.
Had 5 games where he completed less than 60% of his passes. He only played in 11 games. Broke 250 yards passing twice, against Southern Miss and AnM.
The only games he looked "good" in were against the 3 Mississippi schools and AnM. He was good against Louisville also.
Against good defenses he was straight trash.
Not mobile at all. Weak arm. Slow release. He threw for 11 TDs. Very average. He didn't turn the ball over much so that's a positive I will give him.

Two games were because of Les Miles, one game against Alabama was because we were still strapped down with Les Miles extremely antiquated offense, and the loss to Florida was a fluke game and Danny Etling played spectacularly in that game.

frick no they're not. How could you be. Like others have stated in this thread, if he is a solid above average QB, what was the major big problem for LSU? They lost 4 games with what they say was a great defense. What happened? Great defense, solid QB, blah blah blah. They cling to the narrative that all they need is an average QB with their great defense. Something doesn't add up.

I want what you are smoking. He drove LSU down the field to the one-yard line at the end of the game operating the two-minute offense to perfection to put us in a position to win the game on the last play of the game only to have Derrius Guice cut the wrong way on the play and lose the game for us. However, Florida was one of those fluke games where everything that can go wrong, did go wrong. Nonetheless, anyone that watched that game could easily tell that LSU was by far the better team on the field that night.

Etling played with a bad back last year. He says he couldn't use his body to make throws so he had to alter his throwing motion to eliminate back pain and that he made all of his throws last year with only his arm. He also says, that in some games last year he couldn't even feel his left leg. He further says he had to alter his foot work for the same reason. Meanwhile, everyone in camp says he has never looked better today and that he is throwing with much more zip and accuracy. Now whether that's true or not, we will soon find out.
