Bama is now #26 in total defense

Would like to know what each is ranked if you take away their LSU game

Your offense is good. It made them drop.

Pretty obvious example of why you should look at FEI/SP+ instead of unadjusted stats.
Alabama has now played #1, #11, #18 and #22 in YPP Offense.
LSU has played, per SP+, #6 Alabama, #11 Florida St, #28 Mizzou, #31 Ole Miss, #32 Auburn.

Well, raw CFBStats.com #s aside, playing the #1, 12, 13, and 18 offenses will do that do you.
Lsu's D only let Bama bump up to #72.
It was a clear case of elite (Lsu O) on good (Bama D) and putrid (LSU d) on meh (Bama O).
Imagine if LSU played an elite defense with a good offense. Ouch.

LSU's offense STILL hasn't faced a single top-20 defense
I did those numbers last week.
This thread is tongue-in-cheek because of some low-IQ Bama fan countered my statistical analysis with "Hurr hurr, they haven't played a single top-20 defense"
After playing LSU, Bama went from #15 to #26
This is a troll on that particular guy

so that great offense of LSU has 3 losses against sub top-20 defenses?
strange flex

Conclusion: Just confirms the obvious. LSU's good offense is way better than Bama's good defense, but LSU's defense is way worse than Bama's horrible offense.

Did this before the Alabama game. Average scoring defense of P5 teams we have face with the LSU game included was 37th in the country. If you removed the lsu offensive performance the average scoring defensive ranking improved to 27th in the country.

Here was my rebuttal to the idiot:
quote:LINKquote:
A big difference is that Bama has played 2 top 20 defenses, and LSU hasn't played a defense ranked higher than Arkansas, who is at 37.
Both Arky and Missou would be top-20 defenses, but for the yards LSU's sick offense put up on them
To confirm:
Removing the LSU game, Mizzou is at 309.3 per game
That would put them 1 spot below Bama at 16.
Arkansas would be better with 307.9
Arky would be 16
Mizzou 17
So, to assuage your concerns, Mizzou and Arky were top-20 defenses, until they met LSU

I had a similar opinion that it would all be a wash. A couple of stops and a turnover were the difference.
The missed Reichard FGs and turnover on downs didn't help field position either.
But, I thought the Bama D and the crowd did well to affect the game in the second half between the LSU TD and Daniels injury.

They'll be the best 4 loss team once they drop to A&M.

I think LSU wins by 2 scores.
I can do a full work up of that game when the week approaches, depending on if I gaf that week.
Bama/LSU is usually an important game. Tamu/LSU has generally had no effect on anything on the CFB landscape other than it being TAMU's Super Bowl.
