Just trying to figure out if Miles was ever a good coach OR has been as incompetent as LSU fans say he is today.
I figure if he won a Natty in 2007, maybe he was never an idiot OR became an idiot AFTER 2007.
So, when did Miles become a coaching idiot?
We tried to figure that out for years. Just when you think he's definitely an idiot that got lucky, he proves you wrong (like winning the "Game of the Century" in 2011). Just when you start to consider him an elite coach, he does something that looks moronic. And then he eats grass and speaks in sentences that could confound any linguist on earth.
Les Miles is hilarious, and a class act, and a clown, and he's great for college football - but I'm not going to criticize LSU fans for wanting to replace him.

He's probably a decent coach, but he hasn't had a quarterback since Jamarcus Russell.

No. Because Bryant didn't win an MNC. Bryant didn't leave on Christmas Day. Bryant went to his alma mater instead of a division rival.

So, when did you decide that this is literally the only thing that you care about? Writing your thesis? Related to Miles? Just a douche?
LSU fans say that Miles is an idiot who shouldn't be coaching. I'm just wondering whether he was born that way or did it happen recently?

this isn't the NFL.
Miles gets to recruit a new QB every year.

No, of course not. Especially if LSU has a worse than usual football season. That's not what this thread is about.
I am honestly trying to figure out how long has this idiot been a coach . .. I mean, how long has this coach been an idiot.
If the season ticket holders of any team want a coaching change, I would tend to support that. That's just MHO, but that's not the subject of this thread.

That's my argument. Maybe I should have worded it differently. He's not good at developing quarterbacks.

Miles lost to Kentucky and an unranked Arkansas team in Tiger Stadium the year he got the natty. Even LSU fans know it was the flukiest of times.

Saban went to the NFL.

Gamedays/x's and o's/whatever you want to call he has always been an idiot. Since 07 he's had 3 different OCs but the result is always the same. Bad QB play, inconsistent o-line and boring vanilla playcalls.
The fricking toss dive is his play, it's been around for too long for it not to be his. Have you ever seen another team run a toss dive play? No, you haven't, because it's a stupid fricking play. The toss dive epitomizes Les and how stubborn and out of touch he is.
Les is a lucky bastard who lucked into the LSU job after we came to the coaching carousel too late in 04 because Saban didn't resign until Christmas, so we got stuck hiring a guy who nobody wanted in the first round of hiring. He was able to hire very high quality assistants and recruit well to keep the train moving, but he still managed to lose at least one game a year to a team he had no business losing to. That includes usually pulling another win out of his arse (usually also to a team he had no business losing to). 2011 was the exception, but he still managed to frick it up in his own special way.

I was around here years ago saying that Miles is an idiot way before it was cool to say it. In fact, I took a lot of heat from LSU fans -- I'd call Miles an idiot and they would defend him.
Miles may have brain damage. Something about him doesn't seem right.
I'm shocked that it took so long for the LSU fanbase to realize that the guy has been stealing money from them.
I remember back when if you called Miles an idiot, LSU fans would defend him by saying "Go pull for Saban at Alabama" or "Miles has more wins at LSU than Saban".
I recall back when if you pointed out that Miles's LSU teams often seem unprepared, ill disciplined and poorly coached, you'd be buried in a pile of downvotes as people would remind you "he wins 75 percent of his games only a moron would want him fired so what if he wins ugly".
That's why I'm thinking of the question of how long has this idiot been a coach NO , I mean: How long has this coach been an idiot.
Bama had the right to fire Shula and LSU has the right to fire Miles. I'm not arguing that point or any point. Just making an inquiry.

You seem like you might be a bit of an idiot yourself. You're posting a website where the vast majority of posters are LSU fans and you're surprised they would defend the team's coach?

Did UM win with Zook's players at Fla? Saban with DiNardo's? That "argument" is ridiculous.

To give a serious answer to what appears to be a flawed trolling attempt. Coaches with success are usually not open to change what has worked in the past. The problem is the game changes and those types of coaches remain the same. So, things that worked in the past start to fail and, if the coach fails to adapt to the new landscape, he loses more and more games. So, Miles has proven in the past that he could win with his system. Now that system is not a path to continued success.
