LSU has to beat Texas to be a contender . On the other hand A&M doesn’t have to bear Clemson but they should at least play them close ..

Not sure I understand that logic. If LSU or TAMU get blown out this weekend I don’t think the Bama game can correct that.

I was re-iterating the position of A&M. It is your contention that you are the better team because you finished “2nd” in the SEC West. Is that not your position on the matter? Am I misstating something? So how did that “2nd” place finish translate into the national standings?

I’m getting flashbacks of 2012 when LSU claimed finishing higher in the division was more important than our #5 national ranking.

Then they would be wrong. National standings would be more important.
ETA: Let me make one thing abundantly clear. I measure success by beating Bama. Nothing else matters. They are the key to the SEC and (eventually) to the CFP. And in that regard, A&M has scoreboard because you have done it more recently than we have. Where you finish in the SEC West and even in the final national standings is just window dressing. Beating Bama is the ultimate goal.
