Alabama is the more talented team now. Not by much, but I think they are the most talented team in the the country just a tick. They pretty much have the number 1 recruiting class every year.

So we might return alot of starters, but so does bama. I would probably give the Quality depth advantage to the tide.

Advantage bama

If Les Miles has taught you nothing he's at least taught you one thing: DO NOT gaze at the stars in his recruiting classes. LSU is abso-fricking-lutely LOADED with talent. They're not as deep at LB as Bama but they're definitely as deep everywhere else and deeper on the d-line and secondary. And Les addressed the LB issue my bringing in a ridiculous class last year. Early word is Kwon is showing no signs that he was ever injured. He's a major impact player at LB probably as early as September. Bottom line is LSU and Bama are set up for some legendary rivalry type games for the next decade or so.

I hate you, but your analylisis is a good one.

I disagree about bamas oline being FAR AND AWAY better. I do agree they will be better though. Your front seven will no doubt be a terror again

FWIW, MLB ratings are the highest they've ever been. Attendance had also been steadily rising up until a couple of years ago not sure if that continued or not.

That's pretty optimistic, but I think you are right that CLM and CNS will have quality teams that have the chest to process pretty much every one else.

LSU's OL and 8 man stable (just pick one Les damn) should be fine in being called on to win games, they are nowhere near Bama's talent on the OL

I don't hate you but you are entitled to that opinion

When you have 3 of the top position OL in the SEC and a guy who could be possibly the top, it's easily the best OL Saban has coached at Bama which is saying a whole hell of a lot...JMHO on it, but what do I know I'm a bammer homer

I did not know that. I probly have not watched a game in 15 years. I have been meaning to check out that knuckleball pitcher for the mets though.

I'm sorry - I should have stated that fans of insignificant teams should not reply to my post. My bad.

good thing State isn't insignificant. LSU loses by a 0:00 timeout.

Bama/LSU = UF/UT in the 90's
2 teams that are just on another level from everyone else in the conference stuck in the same division.

We'll both have homer opinions I'm sure but I wouldn't trade our depth charge at either spot with anyone in the country and I'm sure you wouldn't either.

absolutely. i know LSU is stacked at those spots. but someone made the comment that LSU definitely has more depth on the DL and secondary. I dont think that is true at all

It's not uncommon to see our 3rd or 4th guy on the field even in big time situations. Not sure if this is how Bama operates.

This. LSU may have the slight edge in talent when talking about defensive line starters, but top to bottom depth there is no talent gap. LB-advantage bama, not really close as of today.

Secondary, Lester/Reid Milliner/Mathieu are a wash when it comes to defending the pass. Both teams have question marks when it comes to backup corners, they're all talented but all unproven. I would venture to say bama has a little more talented depth than LSU at safety and LSU a little more talented depth than Bama at corner.

All things considered the only talent gap between the 2 defenses that is glaring is bama>lsu at LB.

If you put the secondaries from each team together you would have lester and reid at safety, simon and milliner at corner, mathieu at nickel..that's pretty even.

Offensively is more of the same, receivers are push, slight edge to lsu at RB, slight edge to bama at OL, edge to bama at QB until it's proven otherwise. These are far and away the 2 most talented teams in the country and both would skullfrick the preseason number one trojans. Matt Barkley would be picking his mouthpiece off the turf all night long
