Ok, I'm out of here. Enough flame fests for one day.

It's a major US college, with 35,000 students, what do you think? I wouldn't be naive enough to think it doesn't go on anywhere, much less a school that big.

To get this thread back on track, I'm reposting here (slightly edited) what I posted in the Tiger Rant in a similar thread.

I'm going out on a limb and predict that the South End Zone upper deck won't look like this...

...at all.

Since the stated goal is "more suites than seats", it might wind up looking more like this...

..and end up being more of a clubhouse featuring new endzone suites. LSU will look to maximize it's dollars here, by catering to the demand for luxury suites. Remember, suites are paid for on a yearly basis whether they are used or not, unlike regular stadium seating.

As it is, Tiger Stadium suites rarely come on the market. And the waiting list is several years long.

BTW that is the proposed renovations to UNC's Kenan Memorial Stadium. Notice the open patios to either side of the main structure.

im all for more suites as opposed to more seats. TS doesnt really need more seats. it has plenty. at some point its just retarded to have that many seats in a stadium. no reason to get in a seating contest with bama.

I totally agree. I'd rather see LSU get the most profit it can out of Tiger Stadium, at the same time giving it a much-need facelift.

FWIW, LSU is building the first of several high rise parking garages across from the Union now. A stadium expansion would just accelerate the process of building additional garages.

There is also a big push to refurbish the old dorms in the stadium as game-day condos

No, there's not. Too costly due to asbestos.

I keep hearing that, and I call bullshite. The rentals would more than pay for the renovations IMHO.

Was talked about in a thread in the OT. They have a approved the plan, may not have started construction yet. The garages are supposed to pay for themselves with parking fees.

I'd be willing to bet the upfront costs would be higher, but the leasing income potential would make it worth it.

I could definitely see it looking like that. It seems like the new thing is to make stadiums look fancier.
