Sounds like buttholes getting tight in Tuscaloosa, you can't put a check mark next to the LSU game.

not sure there's much to rebuild outside of an offense, but the talent is already in place, it's not like we have a bare cupboard here

LSU fans realize that things could get much worse before they got better, but at the direction Miles was going, LSU was looking at mediocre seasons with 10 win seasons sprinkled in and a team that vastly underperforms. I'll take a few down years to get the right coach in here and contend for championships again.
Hiring a new coach surely isn't a science, and there's a good chance LSU's next coach doesn't work out. But, sometimes you have to move back before you can move forward.

Hiring a coach outside of handful of guys is total crap shoot. You can interview and have guy that checks all the boxes but he may not be a good fit recruiting or may have some bad luck and never get any traction.

FSU and LSU are a wash recruiting wise. Both are name programs. FSU is in Florida with 20 million people and is in the Northern part of the state with access to Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi close by. They also have consistently recruited nationally.
I don't see how LSU is paying more than FSU, they may match but FSU will mortgage the stadium to keep Jimbo.
Look, I don't have a big issue with LSU firing Miles in principle but I do think the timing was irrational and honestly looks like a panic move. Fire him at the end of last year. Wait until the end of this year. You don't fire a guy that has had his level of success and by all accounts has been a class act representing your school and your state mid season because he lost 2 games that could have gone either way. You do realize other coaches notice that as well, right? The logic states that if LSU will do that to a coach who won a NC for them and consistently won in the SECW and was beloved by the fanbase then how can they expect any better treatment?
LSU is a great program but they aren't so great that they can't falter and badly. A&M had 20 straight years of winning seasons, 7 Conference Titles, and the ability to hire away a coach from Alabama in 2002 and it put us in a hole for a decade. We also at least fired our coach at the end of the season. Virtually all the blue blood programs have had significant struggles as well at some point in the last decade, what makes LSU think they are immune when they aren't a blue blood?
Maybe this all works out and LSU suddenly rebounds to win SEC Titles in a year or two but the odds are against it. The competition for LSU is ridiculous and there are always wolves at the door. I guess we'll see.

killz, are you ready to be yaw yaw'd?

Of course all the fans of other teams think we should have kept Miles. They'd love us to stay in the stagnant, under performing state we've been in the last few seasons. Miles is a great man, but as a coach it was time for him to go.

He never won an NC before coaching here, you dolt. Quit trying to convince yourself that this was a bad move, and enjoy the arse kicking Saturday.

Not saying he will, But I am saying he is a candidate you twat

I don't think firing Miles was a mistake, I think the timing is pretty terrible though.
How do you waste an entire offseason just to fire the guy 4 games into the season? If you were going to fire him you should have done it last year or during the offseason. Now you've basically doomed your school to a losing record and wasted an opportunity to hire Herman or Fisher.
Neither one are leaving at this point, Herman will get better job offers and Fisher has a perfect situation at Florida St.
Should have let Miles at least finish the regular season, who knows, maybe he turns it around. But 4 games into the season? Reeks of desperation.

I was wrong. LSU doesn't have the dumbest fan. Apparently, Alabama does.

We understand the risks. Every school who does this is vulnerable. No one is immune to a coaching decision mistake. However, LSU is 4-5 in their last 9 and I believe 21-13 in the SEC dating back to 2012. 15-11 dating back to 2013. We don't really have a choice.

To be fair he gave us 12 years and promised to change the offense so it can be more productive this year. They gave him one last shot to save his job and had 4 horrible looking games. Not sure how it is so hard to grasp what happened. In hindsight it would have been better to fire him last year but we owed him one more chance.

Not sure Herman will get a better job offer than LSU. We can pay the money he wants, we have a team already loaded with talent. Recruiting will be a breeze for him, he would still be able to maintain all of his Texas connections.

You don't fire the coach who gifted your program with a national championship
You mean that 2-loss national championship that was won with Saban's players? At least that's all we heard back in 07.
First all we hear from you guys is that Miles has way too much talent on hand to perform like this. He is a dumb coach who can't manage a clock. He is the luckiest coach in all of college football blahblahblah..
LSU fires Miles
Now we made a huge mistake? We can't get anyone better?

We found a coach who could get it done again last time, why not again? And if you don't remember, most folks barely even knew he Miles was when we hired him. Now errrrebody wants this job. You guys do know there are other great coaches in the world not named Miles and Saban right?? Geeeeezzz...get out of here wit this shite.
