Ole Miss isn't a real contender...
it's like a few years back when Spurrier went to South Carolina. Some great seasons, never won any hardware.
That's exactly where Kiffin got Ole Miss. But the difference is, Kiffin didn't take Ole Miss in the twilight of his career to avoid retirement a couple years like Spurrier with the Gamecocks; he's 50 and has over a decade left.
He was taking Florida next season, until LSU opened up.

IIRC, didn't LSU's president come up with the idea of the SWC and chair the first SWC meeting, but then decided to not have LSU join the conference?
