Now do NC’s

Bama numbers are skewed dramatically by two of the best to ever do it.

Although one was a drunk and the other never should have been at Bama

Sure, no problem. In the last 100 years:

Wade: 8 seasons, 3 national championships
Thomas: 15 seasons, 2 national championships
Bryant: 25 seasons, 6 national championships
Stallings: 7 seasons, 1 national championship
Saban: 17 seasons, 6 national championships

That is 72 seasons. Those 5 coaches won 18 national championships and 34 SEC championships. Really, if you subtract those 72 years, Alabama looks pretty average. Outside of those 5 coaches, Alabama only won 2 SEC championships in the other 28 years.

Saban - 6
Bear - 6

Some of those pre 60’s NC’s are questionable

My point - Bama having 2 of the goats skew the numbers

They are all "questionable," in that they were all a part of the beauty pageant era of NCs. You want to focus on ALABAMA ad nauseam, because you can't take the overwhelming numbers BAMA has put up. LSU has been our stepchild in the SEC, and not much you can say about BAMA's history that's not coming with a ton of bias. Michigan, Ohio State, USC, Notre Dame, and others have all had some unusual wins during this mythical time as well. If we can't play each other, what do you expect?

I've been to the Bryant Museum many times, and there is one undeniable truth I've seen for myself. Those pre-60s trophies count just like the new ones.

Part of having a successful program is hiring good coaches. Saban completely changed the LSU program. If not for him, LSU would still be a lower/mid tier program.

If you remove the Saban and Miles years LSU looks pretty bad. If you remove Saban and Bryant’s 42 years, Alabama looks ok. Even without Saban and Bryant, Alabama would have more national championships than any other SEC school except Oklahoma.

If by mid tier, you mean top 12 program all time, then so be it.

You can't give a zero to LSU during the Saban/Miles years if they weren't there, just like you can't during the Bryant/Saban years for Bama. Someone would have won some games, even if not at the same level.
Besides the 90's, LSU was always top 12 to 14 in all measurables.

But that is exactly what many fans here suggest. Most all schools benefit from good coaches. If we remove the accomplishments of the top 2 coaches almost all SEC football programs would look drastically different. Here is what each school would lose and how many national championships they would have.

LSU - remove Saban and Miles, lose 125 wins and 2 national championships, 2 national championships

Georgia - remove Dooley and Smart, lose 306 wins and 3 national championships, 1 national championship

Tennessee - remove Neyland and Fulmer, lose 324 wins and 5 national championships, 1 national championship

Florida - remove Spurrier and Meyer, lose 187 wins and 3 national championships, 0 national championships

Oklahoma - remove Wilkinson and Switzer, lose 301 wins and 6 national championships, 1 national championship

It appears that Alabama is not the only program to benefit greatly from their two best coaches.

Quit responding to people who say Alabama would be nothing without Bryant/Saban. Every school would pay anything to have had the two GOATS at their school.

The better question would be did Bryant/Saban make Bama or did Bama make them?
