5/7 candidates were NFL coaches who LSU wasn't going to hire until their season was over.

Worked pretty well when it was Sark and Kiffin. How'd oregon do picking his staff last year? Oh wait..

I thought the DC and LBs hires were great. This one just seemed odd.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

He coached a great d-line at the jets though. D-line and Crowder were the only things on that team that were worth a shite.

I keep seeing people say this is such a great hire. Why? He was a great player for a long time. But he’s been a coach for three seasons total. And DL coach is where you usually have a recruiter. It would seem he’s never done that, considering his career.

Well they have The New Improved Crimedawg as their DC.....

They couldn’t get the DL Coach they wanted so they hype up plan B

Name a major college coach that coaches a position, in lieu of having a position coach.

There are a small number of head coaches that call plays, but even they still have a coordinator.

No head coach that I am aware of is the full-time position coach. Not at a P5 school, anyway.

Perhaps there's a random exception out there.

Baker's '18 D at miami was ranked top 10 in three major defensive categories and top20 in four others. Don't have a clue what they did in '20.

Name one head coach at a p5 school that is actually a position coach? Not enough time in the day for a head coach to do that with all his other responsibilities.
