I’ve never heard this claimed. Alleva hired Orgeron because LSU needed a head football coach, and Tom Herman pissed him off, and Orgeron (not Ogeron) had a good interview.

No not really, the top two candidates did not want the job and someone did not want to spend a fortune buying a coach.
Look at the top two candidates and their seasons
Texas 4 loses
Florida St 4 loses
A lot of money spent on these two and not panning out this season

LSU Hired a Team of Coaches/Coordinators to beat Saban. Not many head coaches out there that can beat Saban consistently.

No. They fired Miles because he could not beat Saban, thinking that they were LSU, and they would simply pick their coach. When it became apparent the job wasn't as attractive as they thought, they went ahead and hired Orgeron to avoid a long hiring process that might end w/ them having to can their their overpaid coordinators and end up paying three huge buyouts. It was a cluster, and I'm an Ole Miss fan. They have settled for a level below Miles that will last about another three years. Here's hoping their egos drop to the level of their football reality.
