1979 LSU had the chance to hire Bowden. He beat LSU and decided to stay at FSU. Offer him the right money and he is at LSU. Likewise, if Bo Rein’s plane doesn’t crash, LSU is likely a power throughout the 80’s instead of an on/off struggle.

I have said for years Bowden at LSU would have been a sight to behold. Bowden would have been the perfect fit and arriving in the SEC as the Bear was leaving he would have taken over the SEC. he did not leave FSU for Bama, he would not have left LSU for Bama. Had LSU beat FSU in Baton Rouge in 1979, he was moving to Tiger Stadium.
